Established in 1922, Hsinchu High School built a dojo in 1926 for use as a gymnasium and a training venue for kendo, cultivating one of the top kendo teams in Taiwan, thus commonly referred to as the Kendo Hall. Due to its high standards of design and construction quality, although the roof was later replaced with corrugated steel due to damage, its ancient charm remains.
