Lantan Moon Shadow潭心 Introduction
City New Aesthetics - "Moon Shadow at the Heart of the Pond" Exhibition Lantaan covers an area of approximately 70 hectares and is located near Shanziding in the eastern outskirts of Chiayi City, about 3 kilometers from the city center. It was formerly known as "Hongmao Pond," which is said to have been excavated by the Dutch over 300 years ago, hence the name "Lantaan." It serves as a major source of tap water for the Chiayi area, boasting a large expanse of natural ecological resources. The mountains behind the scenic area are rich in various plants and insects, making it a well-known tourist spot in Chiayi. The "Moon Shadow at the Heart of the Pond" is a newly established highlight in tourism, situated in the "back garden" of Chiayi City - Lantaan Scenic Area. Created by artist Wang Wenzhi, the structure features a woven theme made of aluminum sheets. Under the moonlight, the light and shadows transform, presenting a unique beauty akin to a bird's nest constructed above the pond, resonating with the surrounding trees and birds, filled with a sense of natural wildness. The design theme of "Moon Shadow at the Heart of the Pond" represents the beauty of "moonlit reflections," while "Heart of the Pond" symbolizes the ripples in the lake, with a homophonic connection to "heart-to-heart talks," reflecting the leisurely vibe of enjoying the pond. It conveys the landscape imagery of "moon, water, and pond visits" in Lantaan. The ceramic bottom circular pond droplets mimic Lantaan's continuous water source, extending into a realm of dreamlike colors. The upper half of the central bird's nest resembles a peach, symbolizing Chiayi City’s ancient name "Peach City." The side tree nests stand like turkey tails, reminding people of the local famous "Turkey Rice." The design incorporates the cultural and tourism characteristics of Chiayi City. Climbing into the woven aluminum bird's nest to gaze outward feels akin to the experience of viewing from the Yueyang Tower in the writings of literary scholars, providing different scenes and landscapes whether during the day, night, rainy or sunny weather. The nighttime lighting changes in four stages create varying aesthetics, offering a venue for nighttime recreation.
