Lantan Moonlight Pond Introduction
Urban Aesthetics - "Moonlight Reflection" Exhibition at Lantan Lantan covers an area of approximately 70 hectares and is located near Shanziding in the eastern suburb of Chiayi City, about 3 kilometers from the city center. It was formerly known as "Hongmao Pond," which is said to have been excavated by the Dutch over 300 years ago, hence the name "Lantan." It serves as the main water supply source for the Chiayi area, with a vast area rich in natural ecology resources. The back mountainous area of the scenic spot has a wealth of natural resources, including various plants and insects, making it a famous tourist attraction in Chiayi. The "Moonlight Reflection" at Lantan is a recently completed new highlight of the tourism scene, situated in the "back garden" of Chiayi City - Lantan Scenic Area. It is the work of artist Wang Wenzhi, featuring an airy structure woven from aluminum sheets. Under the moonlight, the shadows transform, presenting a unique beauty that resembles a bird's nest constructed above the pond, echoing the surrounding trees and birds, exuding a vibrant natural charm. The design theme "Moonlight Reflection" combines the beauty of "moonlight" and the ripples of the "pond," which phonetically connects to "heart-to-heart talks" while enjoying the pond, conveying Lantan's landscape imagery of "moon, water, and pond recreation." The ceramic bottom of the round pond resembles drops of water, symbolizing the continuous source of Lantan and extending a color fantasy. The upper part of the bird's nest takes the shape of a peach, symbolizing the ancient name "Peach City" of Chiayi. The side tree nest stands tall like a turkey tail, reminiscent of the locally famous "turkey rice." The design incorporates the cultural and tourism characteristics of Chiayi City. Climbing into the airy bird's nest constructed from aluminum sheets and looking out feels like ascending the Yueyang Tower described by literati, offering various scenarios and landscapes whether during the day, night, rainy, or sunny days. The nighttime lighting changes in four phases create different aesthetics, providing a recreation spot for the public at night.
