Hsiao Wan-chang Memorial Museum Introduction
The Hsiao Wan-chang Cultural Museum was established in 2006 as an expansion of the Hsiao Wan-chang Data Room. It houses a collection of 2,549 artifacts donated to National Chiayi University, including medals, artworks, calligraphy, important documents, and other items accumulated during Hsiao Wan-chang’s 50 years of public service and his time as Vice President. The museum serves educational and research purposes while also promoting cultural and artistic functions. It is located on the 5th floor of the National Chiayi University Library, covering an area of 116.5 ping. The museum consists of an entrance hall featuring a sundial that reflects Mr. Hsiao’s personal life and a display of the Chiang Chung-jen Medal awarded during his vice presidency; the Art and Digital Resources Exhibition Room, designed with a sundial, aerial photos of Chiayi City, and floor designs inspired by the city flower, presents various aspects of Vice President Hsiao's administrative achievements. It includes large touch computers and a multimedia screening room, allowing interactive displays of the museum’s digital artifacts; and the Special Collections Room, which showcases Dr. Hsiao's press releases, speeches, news clippings, and important meeting records, along with displays of various honorary degree regalia, important calligraphy, and precious artworks.
