Shè Rì Tǎ Introduction
During the 111th Spring Festival holiday (from January 31 to February 6), the opening hours are from January 31 (New Year's Eve) to February 6 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year) from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Sun-Observing Tower, a unique attraction in Taiwan that even the mythical figure Kua Fu couldn't catch up with! The Sun-Observing Tower is the most iconic new landmark in Chiayi City, located within Chiayi Park. As visitors look up, they can see a giant purple bauhinia flower shining against the blue sky, which is also the city flower of Chiayi City. The design of the tower reflects the beauty of the city flower of Chiayi! This circular building, topped with the city flower, is situated on the original site of the old Martyrs' Shrine. The 62-meter-tall Sun-Observing Tower offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Zhu Luo area from its tenth and eleventh floors, capturing the breathtaking beauty of the mountain city. At the entrance, there are two bronze sculptures of the clouded leopard, symbolizing Taiwan’s guardian deity. The base of the tower houses the Martyrs' Shrine, with the memorial tablets of the martyrs carved from white marble for public worship. The upper floors are dedicated to the Sun-Observing Tower, which aims to change the public's stereotypical impression of the old Martyrs' Shrine by incorporating significant advancements in both its exterior and interior design, infusing it with a greater sense of cultural and artistic atmosphere.
