Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum Introduction
The promotion of doll culture in Taishan is closely related to the industrial and living history of the area in the 1950s. The establishment of the Meining Factory, which produced Barbie dolls, in Taishan in 1967 inadvertently created the impression that "Taishan equals doll manufacturing." The Meining dolls accompanied Taishan through history, and during the era of OEM in Taiwan, the globally renowned toy company Mattel set up a factory in Taishan. From material production to packaging and export, the production of Barbie dolls was entirely completed in Taishan until 1987. Later, in 2004, the Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum was established to showcase the history of the Meining Factory and the changes in Taishan's industry, displaying Barbie dolls and related artifacts, as well as representative collectible dolls from various countries, including Europe, America, Japan, and Russia. Each design of the doll's clothing combines traditional clothing features with innovative trendy elements, making it worth a visit to the museum.
