Taishan Doll Cultural Industry Museum Introduction
The promotion of the doll culture industry in Taishan is closely related to the industrial and living history of Taishan in the 1950s. In 1967, the Meining Factory, which manufactured Barbie dolls, established its factory in Taishan, thereby creating the impression that "Taishan equals doll manufacturing." Meining dolls have historically accompanied Taishan through its past. During the era of OEM in Taiwan, the globally renowned toy company Mattel set up a factory in Taishan. The production of Barbie dolls, from material production to packaging and export, was entirely completed in Taishan until 1987. Later, in 2004, the Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum was established to showcase the history of Meining Factory and the changes in Taishan's industry, along with displays of Barbie dolls and related artifacts. The museum also features representative collectible dolls from countries such as Europe, America, Japan, and Russia, with each doll's outfit design incorporating traditional clothing characteristics as well as innovative fashion elements, making it worth a visit.
