Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum Introduction
The promotion of doll culture in Taishan is closely related to the industrial and lifestyle history of Taishan in the 1950s. In 1967, the Meining factory, which manufactured Barbie dolls, established a factory in Taishan, unknowingly creating the impression that "Taishan equals doll manufacturing." Meining dolls have accompanied Taishan through history. During the era of OEM manufacturing in Taiwan, the globally renowned toy company Mattel established a factory in Taishan. The production of Barbie dolls, from material production to packaging and export, was entirely completed in Taishan until 1987. Later, in 2004, the Taishan Doll Industry Cultural Museum was established to present the history of Meining factory and the transformation of the Taishan industry, showcasing Barbie dolls and related artifacts, along with representative dolls from countries such as Europe, America, Japan, and Russia. Each doll outfit design incorporates traditional clothing features and innovative fashion elements, making it worth a visit to the museum.
