Taishan Forest Library Introduction
The "Taishan Forest Bookhouse" (Taishan Indigenous Cultural Activity Center) is located within the red building in Taishan Ci-xiu Park. The red brick exterior of the building symbolizes the vitality and passion of Indigenous peoples. Surrounded by forests and easy access to nature trails, it reflects the Indigenous characteristic of coexistence with nature. The Taishan Forest Bookhouse has ample natural light on all sides, allowing visitors to enjoy reading in a lush green and bright serene environment. A five-minute walk from the bookhouse leads to a scenic platform offering a broad view of the Taishan urban area, and it is only a three-minute drive from Mingzhi Road in Taishan, making it a rare cultural spot suitable for families in the metropolitan area. The Taishan Forest Bookhouse was planned by the Indigenous Peoples Administration of New Taipei City and has gathered support from the community to collect books. Currently, there are approximately 5,000 books categorized into "Picture Books," "Indigenous Literature," "Children's Literature," "Natural Sciences," "Foreign Language Picture Books," and "Parenting." Among the most precious treasures in the bookhouse are numerous Indigenous children’s picture books, as well as a complete set of Ainu folklore picture books published by the Japanese government. It is also in the process of collecting Indigenous picture books from around the world, aiming to enrich children's cultural perspectives and cultivate their aesthetic sense through a diverse range of literature.
