Taishan Forest Library Introduction
The "Taishan Forest Library," part of the Taishan Indigenous Cultural Activity Center, is located within a red building at Taishan Cixiu Park. The red brick exterior symbolizes the vitality and passion of the Indigenous peoples, surrounded by trees and nearby mountain trails, reflecting the Indigenous characteristic of coexisting with nature. The Taishan Forest Library is well-lit on all sides, providing a serene environment for the public to enjoy reading amidst lush greenery. A five-minute walk from the library leads to a scenic platform that offers a panoramic view of Taishan city, and it is just a three-minute drive from Mingzhi Road in Taishan, making it a rare cultural spot suitable for family visits in the metropolitan area. The Taishan Forest Library was planned by the Indigenous Administration Bureau of New Taipei City Government, in collaboration with community efforts to gather books. Currently, it hosts about 5,000 books categorized into "Picture Books," "Indigenous Literature," "Children's Literature," "Natural Sciences," "Foreign Language Picture Books," and "Parenting." Among its most treasured collections are numerous Indigenous children's picture books, including a complete set of Ainu folklore picture books published by the Japanese government, along with ongoing efforts to collect Indigenous picture books from around the world, aiming to broaden children's diverse cultural perspectives and foster aesthetic appreciation through these rich resources.
