Taishan Forest Library Introduction
The "Taishan Forest Library" (Taishan Indigenous Cultural Activity Center) is located within the red building in Taishan Ci-Xiu Park. The red brick exterior symbolizes the vitality and passion of the indigenous peoples, surrounded by forests and scenic trails, reflecting the indigenous characteristic of coexisting with nature. The Taishan Forest Library has ample natural light on all sides, allowing visitors to enjoy reading in a lush green and bright serene environment. A five-minute walk from the library leads to a scenic viewing platform that offers a panoramic view of Taishan urban area, and it is just a three-minute drive from Mingzhi Road in Taishan, making it a rare cultural spot suitable for family visits in the metropolitan area. The Taishan Forest Library is planned by the Indigenous Administration Bureau of New Taipei City Government, gathering community support to collect books. Currently, it houses around 5,000 books categorized into "Picture Books," "Indigenous Literature," "Children's Literature," "Natural Sciences," "Foreign Language Picture Books," and "Parenting." The library's most precious treasures are many indigenous children's picture books, including a complete set of Ainu folktale picture books published by Japanese officials, and it is also in the process of collecting indigenous picture books from around the world, hoping to enrich children’s multicultural perspectives and cultivate aesthetic appreciation through the diverse collection.
