Ming Chi University of Technology Introduction
The academies in Taiwan were established during the Qing Dynasty as local educational institutions. The Mingzhi Academy, located at the intersection of Mingzhi Road Section 2 and Xinsheng Road, known as "Beitai Shouxue," was donated by Hu Zhuoyou, a graduate from Yongding, Fujian. At that time, it was quite sizable, but later, the government moved the academy to Hsinchu, renaming it as Xinzhong Shanjiao Yidian. Mingzhi Academy is the first academy in northern Taiwan, established 70 years earlier than Wenhailin Academy (Xuehai Academy) in Bangka. The original Mingzhi Academy was quite large, with one entrance and five rooms, totaling 12 wing rooms. After years of renovations, the academy is now surrounded by residential buildings, leaving only the main hall and two side wing rooms. Inside the main hall, there are the "Statue of Confucius Ziyang Zhu" and the "Ceremonial Tablet of Graduate Hu Zhuoyou." On the side walls, there are introductions about the academy's history and the restoration process. Mingzhi Academy holds a significant position in the cultural and educational history of northern Taiwan. Following the path paved with flagstones from Mingzhi Academy, visitors can reach Yixue Keng Natural Ecological Park and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.
