Ming Chuan University Introduction
The academies in Taiwan began to be established during the Qing Dynasty and served as local educational institutions. The "Mingzhi Academy" located at the intersection of Mingzhi Road Section 2 and Xinsing Road, known as "Beitai Shouxue," was donated by Hu Zhuoyou, a graduate from Yongding, Fujian. At that time, it had a considerable scale, but later the government relocated the academy to Hsinchu, renaming it as Xinzhuang Shanji Yidian. Mingzhi Academy is the first academy in Northern Taiwan, established 70 years earlier than the Wenhailu Academy (Xuehai Academy) in Bangka. The original Mingzhi Academy was quite large, consisting of a main hall with five main sections and a total of 12 side rooms. After many renovations over the years, the academy is now surrounded by residential houses, with only the main hall and two side rooms remaining. Currently, the main hall enshrines the "Ziyang Zhu Confucius Tablet" and the "Graduate Hu Zhuoyou Tablet." On the side walls, there are introductions to the history and restoration of the academy. Mingzhi Academy occupies a significant position in the cultural and educational history of Northern Taiwan. Following the path made of stone slabs from Mingzhi Academy leads to the Yixue Keng Natural Ecological Park, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.
