Weng Shan-ying Former Residence (Jiufen Tea House) Introduction
As the former golden mountain town of Jiufen once again attracts the world's attention, the emergence of the first cultural tea house in Jiufen has not only introduced tea house culture but also sparked a trend of "drinking tea in upper Jiufen." Under the influence of the mentality of "losing to others but not losing the game," the following businesses have all exerted their utmost efforts, resulting in this small mining settlement of Jiufen giving rise to over twenty tea houses, each with its own unique character. The former residence of Weng Shanying now serves as a tea house in Jiufen and largely maintains the original spatial layout. The structure itself is a mix of stone and wood, appearing simple from the outside, with a first floor in the front and a second floor in the back. The interior space largely retains its original appearance, providing rich variations while preserving the spatial pattern of traditional architecture. The current renovations show much ingenuity in space usage, retaining original features while enhancing the flexibility of the building itself, allowing this residence, despite being over a century old, to still showcase its unique charm.
