Wengshan Ying's Former Residence (Jiufen Tea House) Introduction
When Jiufen, once a golden mountain town, once again attracts the world's attention, the emergence of the first art and tea house in Jiufen not only introduces tea house culture but also ignites the trend of "drinking tea in Upper Jiufen" as a form of leisure. Under the psychological influence of "not losing face," many following establishments spare no effort, leading to over twenty uniquely themed tea houses in this small mining settlement. The former residence of Weng Shanying is now utilized as a tea house, maintaining the original spatial layout. The building itself is a mix of stone and wooden structures, appearing simple on the outside, with a single story in front and two stories in the back. The interior largely retains its original appearance with rich spatial variations, preserving the layout of traditional architecture. The current renovations have been thoughtfully implemented to utilize the space effectively, preserving its original characteristics while adding flexibility to the building itself, allowing this residence, despite its more than a hundred years of history, to still display its unique charm.
