Pastor's House and Maiden's Tower Introduction
The pastor's residence, built in 1906, features a distinctive red brick arched corridor that looks even more beautiful against the backdrop of green trees. In spring and summer, the garden is covered in verdant grass and cherry blossom trees are planted. In winter, it offers another view altogether, making it a perfect private spot for watching the sunset over Tamsui. The architectural features include a red brick exterior, sloped roof, corridor, and high steps, and it is colloquially known as the "Pastor's Residence" because two pastors once lived here. The pastor's residence and the ladies' building are two corridor-style Western-style buildings with nostalgic charm, also featuring red brick exteriors, sloped roofs, corridors, and high steps. They are located directly across from the main gate of Tamsui University and are part of the university, open only during class periods. As they are not public attractions, visitors are requested to maintain silence and decorum while appreciating the century-old elegance of these two red brick buildings. The ladies' building was named after the first residents, Miss Gao and Miss Jin, built by Pastor William Wu on the west side of the Spanish-style Mackay Residence, where he personally designed and oversaw the construction using the famous builder Huang A-shu and materials from Xiamen bricks and Fushans.
