Parsonage and Young Lady's House Introduction
The Pastor's Residence was built in 1906 and features a distinctive red brick arched corridor that looks even more beautiful against the backdrop of lush greenery. In spring and summer, the garden is filled with vibrant green grass and cherry blossom trees, while in winter, it offers a different picturesque view. This makes it a perfect spot for watching the sunset over Tamsui. Architectural features include the red brick facade, sloped roof, corridor, and high steps. It is commonly known as the "Pastor's Residence" because two pastors once lived here. Along with the Young Lady's Residence, these are two corridor-style Western-style buildings that showcase nostalgic charm with red brick exteriors, sloped roofs, and high steps. They are located directly opposite the main entrance of Tyndale University and are part of the university's property. The site is only open during school hours, and since it is not a public tourist attraction, visitors are asked to maintain silence and observe viewing etiquette to quietly appreciate the century-old elegance of these two red brick buildings. The Young Lady's Residence was built by Pastor William Wu on the west side of the Spanish-style Mackay Residence, where he personally designed and oversaw its construction, hiring the well-known builder Huang A-Shu of the time. The materials used were bricks from Xiamen and Fujian cedar. As the first residents were two women, people in Tamsui referred to it as the "Young Lady's Residence."
