Takeda Eikichi Residence Introduction
The residence of Takata Eikichi is located on the hillside of Puding Mountain, facing south, with a slope behind and a steep terrace in front. The site is elevated, offering a view of the beautiful scenery of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain. The original site was part of the Xuehai Academy's agricultural land during the Qing Dynasty, and the current address is No. 19 Mackay Street, close to the Tamsui Library, the Little White House, and Cultural Elementary School. The architecture is rich in Japanese style and is also the first private residence in Taiwan to have running water facilities, representing a significant milestone in the development of Taiwan's water supply system at the time, and is one of the most historically valuable aspects of the house. The residence of Takata Eikichi was designated as a New Taipei City historic site in April 2005. You can feel as if you are in Japan without leaving the country, making it an ideal spot for couples to take photos. Additionally, due to its elevated location, it offers a view of the beautiful scenery of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain. The building is constructed with red cypress wood, and the rain panels on the exterior, the black tiles on the roof, and the flat rod ceilings inside are still preserved.
