Tada Eikichi Residence Introduction
The former residence of Eikichi Tada is located halfway up the Pu-Ding mountain, facing south with a hillside behind and a steep drop in front. The high site allows for a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery along the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain. The original site was used as an academic field for the Xuehai Academy during the Qing Dynasty, and the current address is No. 19 Mackay Street, near the Tamsui Library, Little White House, and Cultural Elementary School. The architecture is rich in Japanese style and is also the first private residence in Taiwan to have running water, marking a revolutionary development in Taiwan's water supply industry at the time and adding to the historical significance of the site. In April 2005, the Eikichi Tada Residence was designated as a city historic site in New Taipei City. You can experience a feeling of being in Japan without leaving the country, making it a perfect spot for couples to take photos together. Moreover, due to its elevated location, it offers a stunning view of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain. The building is constructed with red cypress wood, with rain boards on the exterior, black tiles on the roof, and the flat-beamed ceiling inside still preserved today.
