Eikichi Tada Former Residence Introduction
The residence of Eikichi Tada is located on the hillside of Pudong Mountain, facing south, with a slope behind and a steep embankment in front. The site is elevated, offering a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain. The original site was part of the Xuehai Academy's agricultural land during the Qing Dynasty, and the current address is No. 19 Mckay Street, near the Tamsui Library, the Little White House, and Cultural Elementary School. The architecture is rich in Japanese style and is notable for being the first private residence in Taiwan to have running water. This feature not only marked a significant development in Taiwan's water supply industry at the time but is also one of the most historically significant aspects of the residence. The Eikichi Tada Residence was officially designated as a New Taipei City historical site in April 2005. Visitors can experience a sense of Japan without leaving the country, making it a perfect spot for couples to take pictures. Additionally, due to its elevated location, the residence provides a stunning view of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain, and the building is constructed with red cypress wood, preserving its rain boards on the outer wall, black tiles on the roof, and flat eaves inside to this day.
