Bali Old Street (Ferry Wharf) Introduction

Tamsui's Bali, located on the left bank of the Tamsui River estuary, developed earlier than Tamsui on the right bank. During the mid-Qing Dynasty, Bali became the first official port in northern Taiwan, connecting with Fuzhou and Quanzhou in Fujian. With a large influx of Fujian immigrants, Bali thrived in commerce for a time. However, as the shipping lanes became silted, Bali’s port status gradually gave way to that of Tamsui. Today, the Bali Ferry Terminal Old Street serves as the gateway to Bali's shipping, gathering numerous restaurants and snack vendors, along with waterfront parks and outdoor cafes, making Bali the most charming leisure area on the left bank.
