Tamsui Golden Waterfront Introduction
The Golden Water Shore Old Street section has officially opened, running from Tamsui and Zhongjun Temple to the fishing port. The overall planning incorporates a point-like spatial approach along the route, including tree-lined paths, waterfront areas, fishing spaces, water stages, café seating, and tide-watching bays. Strolling along the Tamsui River, one can see that the riverside shopping streets have been revitalized, with various interesting shops lining the way. Sitting in a European café by the riverside, enjoying coffee while gazing at Guanyin Mountain and the estuary across the river provides a refreshing broad view. Taking a fast ferry to Fisherman’s Wharf offers a view of the unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures along the coast, combined with the revival of Tamsui’s historical sites, creating an unforgettable water town ambiance. The familiar Tamsui riverside features a dignified bicycle path called the "Golden Water Shore," starting from the mouth of the Zhonggang River near the Guandu Temple and following the riverbank to Tamsui Old Street. This bicycle path is about 10 kilometers long, very flat and easy to ride, making it perfect for families to observe the ecology of white egrets and fiddler crabs while enjoying the biking experience. Riding to the famous "Tamsui Old Street," you will find a bustling array of shops on both sides of the street, including traditional rice shops, pastry shops, fabric stores, and grocery stores full of nostalgia, as well as modern trendy clothing stores and toy shops, creating a unique cultural blend of the old and the new. In Old Street, you can treasure hunt, taste delicious food, and visit historical sites, making it a must-visit hotspot for tourists where you'll never get bored. The old street is divided into the outer section along the Tamsui riverside (Golden Water Shore Trail) and the inner old street. Famous local specialties include freshly baked traditional cakes, Ah Gei, grilled squid, Grandma's iron eggs, fish snacks, towering ice cream, and fish balls, all of which are must-try delicacies when visiting the old street.
