Tamsui Golden Waterfront Introduction
The Golden Waterfront Old Street section, extending from Tamsui to Wenchong Temple and down to the Small Fishing Port, has officially opened to the public. The overall planning incorporates a point-based spatial approach, featuring shaded walking paths, waterfront areas, fishing spaces, a water stage, café seating, and a tidal observatory. Strolling along the banks of the Tamsui River, visitors can see the waterfront shops newly arranged and a variety of interesting stores lining the streets. Enjoying a cup of coffee at a European-style café by the riverside while gazing at Guanyin Mountain and the estuary across the river offers a broad view that is truly refreshing. A quick ferry ride to Fisherman's Wharf reveals unique traces of the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures along the coast, and with the revival of Tamsui's historical sites, the charm of this water town will certainly leave a lasting impression. The well-known Tamsui Riverside actually features a gracefully named bicycle path called "Golden Waterfront," which starts from the mouth of the Zhonggang River near Guandu Temple, running along the riverbank to Tamsui Old Street. This bicycle path is approximately 10 kilometers long, smooth and easy to ride, making it perfect for families to observe egrets and fiddler crabs while enjoying a leisurely ride. Reaching the famous "Tamsui Old Street," visitors are greeted by bustling shops lining both sides of the street, offering a mix of traditional shops selling rice, pastries, fabric, and general goods, as well as modern trendy clothing and toys, forming a unique cultural marketplace that blends the old and new. Visitors can treasure hunt, sample delicious foods, and explore historical sites, ensuring there’s never a dull moment; this makes it a must-visit attraction. The old street is divided into the outer section along the Tamsui River (Golden Waterfront Path) and the inner old street. Famous local specialties include traditional freshly baked cakes, A-Gei (stuffed tofu), grilled squid, Auntie's Iron Eggs, fish crisps, giant ice creams, and fish balls, all of which are must-try delicacies when visiting the old street.
