Tamsui Golden Waterfront Introduction
The Golden Waterside Old Street section, which stretches from Tamsui and Zhongzheng Temple to the small fishing harbor, has officially opened to the public. The overall planning incorporates a point-pattern spatial approach along the route, including shaded walkways, waterfront areas, fishing spaces, a water stage, coffee seating, and a tide-watching bay. Strolling along the banks of the Tamsui River, visitors can see the riverside shopping streets rejuvenated, filled with interesting shops. Sipping coffee in a European-style café by the riverside while gazing at Guanyin Mountain and the river mouth across the way provides a broad and refreshing view. Taking a fast boat to Fisherman's Wharf reveals a unique blend of Eastern and Western influences along the coast, along with the renewal of Tamsui's historical sites, which will leave a lasting impression of the water town charm. The well-known riverside of Tamsui actually features an elegantly named bike path called "Golden Waterside," which starts from the entrance of the Zhonggang River near Guandu Temple and runs along the riverbank to Tamsui Old Street. This bike path is approximately 10 kilometers long, well-paved and easy to ride, making it perfect for families to observe egrets and fiddler crabs while enjoying a leisurely bike ride. Riding to the famous Tamsui Old Street, visitors will find lively shops lining both sides of the street, including traditional rice shops, pastry shops, fabric stores, and grocery stores, along with modern trendy clothing and toy stores, creating a unique cultural mix of ancient and contemporary commercial spaces. The old street offers treasure hunting and food tasting, as well as historical sites to visit, making it an extremely popular destination that never gets boring. The old street is divided into the riverside section (Golden Waterside Walkway) and the inner old street, famous local specialties include freshly baked cake, A-gei, grilled squid, A-Po's iron eggs, fish snacks, giant ice cream, fish balls, and more, all of which are must-try delicacies when visiting the old street.
