SandiaoLing Station Introduction
Sandiao Ridge is an area located between Ruifang District and Shuangxi District in New Taipei City, featuring rich tourist resources such as the Sandiao Ridge Historic Trail and the Sandiao Ridge Eco-Friendly Tunnel. The Sandiao Ridge Station, which was opened in 1922, serves as an important transportation hub for the region, situated on the left bank of the Keelung River, connecting to Houtong to the north and Mudan to the south. It is the only station on Taiwan Railways that does not have a connecting road. Traveling by train to Sandiao Ridge offers the opportunity to admire the magnificent valley scenery along the upper reaches of the Keelung River and the fascinating potholes in the river. Nestled within the mountain wall, this hidden station is described as "a small paradise in the Keelung River valley, with peaks standing tall in front and behind," showcasing its breathtaking views that were highly praised in railway travel guides during the Japanese occupation. Sandiao Ridge Station is renowned as one of Taiwan Railways’ secret stations, attracting many rail enthusiasts and hikers. As a third-class station, Sandiao Ridge Station is served only by local trains, but it is also the intersection of the Yilan Line and the Pingxi Line of Taiwan Railways. Therefore, visitors to Sandiao Ridge Station can see various types of express and local trains on the eastern main line, as well as local trains operating on the Pingxi Line, enjoying the interplay of light and shadow as trains pass through the bright tunnel and depart towards Jing Tong or Yilan.
