Sandiao Ling Station Introduction
Sandiaoling is a region located between Ruifang District and Shuangxi District in New Taipei City, featuring rich tourist resources such as the Sandiaoling Old Trail and the Sandiaoling Eco-Friendly Tunnel. Opened in 1922, Sandiaoling Station serves as an important transportation hub for the area, situated on the left bank of the Keelung River, connecting to Hohsiung to the north and Mudan to the south. It is the only Taiwan Railway station that does not have a connecting road. Traveling to Sandiaoling by train offers spectacular views of the Keelung River's upstream gorge and the unique potholes in the river. Nestled within the mountain walls, this hidden gem of a station features picturesque scenery of the Keelung River Valley. The railway travel guides during the Japanese colonial period praised Sandiaoling Station for its breathtaking landscapes. Being the only station along the entire Taiwan Railway network not connected by road, it has become a well-known secret station, attracting many railway enthusiasts and hikers. Sandiaoling Station, classified as a third-class station, is served only by local trains. However, it is a junction for the Yilan Line and the Pingxi Line, allowing visitors to see various express and local trains on the Taiwan Railway's Eastern Main Line, as well as local trains operating on the Pingxi branch line. From the platform, one can enjoy the interplay of light and shadows as trains pass through the bright tunnel and head toward JingTong or Yilan.
