Sandiao Ling Station Introduction
Sandiao Ridge is an area located between the Ruifang District and the Shuangxi District of New Taipei City, featuring rich tourist resources such as the Sandiao Ridge Historic Trail and the Sandiao Ridge Eco-Friendly Tunnel. Opened in 1922, Sandiao Ridge Station is an important transportation hub for the area, situated on the left bank of the Keelung River, connecting to Hohong in the north and Mudan in the south. It is the only station on Taiwan Railways that does not connect to a highway, allowing visitors to enjoy the magnificent valley scenery of the upper Keelung River and the unique potholes along the railway to Sandiao Ridge. Nestled within the mountain wall, this hidden gem of a station, with peaks rising before and behind, is like a small wonderland in the Keelung River gorge. During the Japanese occupation, a railway travel guide praised the exquisite scenery of Sandiao Ridge Station. Set into the mountain wall on the left bank of the Keelung River, Sandiao Ridge Station is the only station on Taiwan Railways that is not connected to a road, making it one of the famous hidden stations of Taiwan Railways that attracts many railway enthusiasts and hikers to visit. At Sandiao Ridge Station, which is classified as a third-class station, only local trains stop. However, since it is the junction of the Taiwan Railways Yilan Line and the Pingxi Line, visitors to Sandiao Ridge Station can see various types of express and local trains operating on the Taiwan Railways Eastern Main Line, as well as local trains running on the Pingxi Branch Line. Travelers can enjoy the interplay of light and shadow as trains pass through the Ming Tunnel, headed towards Jing Tong or Yilan.
