Taichung's 823 Memorial Park was established to commemorate the 823 Artillery Battle that occurred on August 23, 1958, when the Chinese Communist forces shelled Kinmen. It honors the brave resistance of the National Revolutionary Army soldiers and the citizens who defended Taiwan at that time. The park features various military equipment from the army, navy, and air force, accompanied by detailed explanatory plaques, reflecting the city's commitment to historical memory. Although some of the displayed weapons were not used during the artillery battle but were later adopted for Taiwan's defense, they still hold significant representational and educational value.
