Taichung Metropolitan Park Introduction
Taichung Metropolitan Park is located on the Dadu Mountain plateau in Taichung City, covering an area of 88 hectares. It was officially opened for public recreational use on October 28, 2000, making it the second large green park in the metropolitan area after Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park. The park is situated along the ridge of the Dadu Mountain plateau, offering expansive space and is very close to the highest point of the plateau (elevation 310 meters), providing an open view and magnificent scenery. Looking to the east, visitors can overlook the Taichung Basin, capturing the beautiful landscape of the entire city. The west side presents a dramatically different view, clearly seeing the Taiwan Strait in the distance, with boats coming and going, as well as the Taichung Thermal Power Plant and Taichung Port below. The establishment of Taichung Metropolitan Park carries the important task of preserving the unique natural landscape and environment of the Dadu Mountain plateau, while also providing residents of the Greater Taichung metropolitan area with a nearby place to connect with nature for recreational activities. Furthermore, it provides a habitat for wildlife and plants, playing a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity. Since its opening, Taichung Metropolitan Park has become an important venue for the public to engage in leisure activities. The park's vegetation has gradually adapted to the local environment and is thriving, with increasing biodiversity of animals and insects as the plants grow robustly. This book introduces the geographical environment and cultural history of the Dadu Mountain plateau, along with the natural resources, landscape, facility features, and suggested tour routes of the park, making the treasures of the park a resource shared by all.
