Taichung Metropolitan Park Introduction
Taichung Metropolitan Park is located on the Dadushan Terrace in Taichung City, covering an area of 88 hectares. It officially opened on October 28, 2000, and is the second large metropolitan green park completed after Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park. The park is situated along the ridge of the Dadushan Terrace, with a vast area that is very close to the highest point of the terrace (310 meters above sea level), offering an expansive view and magnificent scenery. Looking east, one can overlook the Taichung Basin, capturing the beautiful landscape of the entire Taichung City. The western side offers a completely different view, where the Taiwan Strait can be seen in the distance and vessels can be clearly observed, along with the Taichung Power Plant and Taichung Port right below. The establishment of Taichung Metropolitan Park is tasked with maintaining the unique natural landscape and environment of the Dadushan Terrace, while also providing a nearby place for residents of the Greater Taichung metropolitan area to connect with nature and enjoy recreational activities. Additionally, it offers a habitat for wildlife and plants, playing a crucial role in preserving biodiversity. Since its opening, Taichung Metropolitan Park has become an important place for people to engage in recreational activities. The plants in the park have gradually adapted to the local environment and are growing steadily, leading to a richer ecosystem with increasing wildlife and insect populations. This book will guide you to understand the geographical environment and cultural history of the Dadushan Terrace, introduce the park's natural resources, landscapes, facility features, and suggest itineraries, making the treasures of the park a shared resource for all.
