Wufeng Mushroom Industry Research and Development Center Introduction
The Wufeng District Farmers' Association established the Wufeng Mushroom Museum in 1998, covering an area of 400 ping. It is the only museum in Taiwan and one of the few in the world dedicated to the knowledge of mushrooms. The museum provides detailed information about mushrooms worldwide, particularly those native to Taiwan, making it a valuable repository of knowledge. Since the successful cultivation of Taiwan's first button mushroom at the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute in 1953, Wufeng has led the mushroom industry in Taiwan, particularly in the early 1950s, with the support of government agencies, turning Wufeng into a true "Mushroom Kingdom." In 2022, under the efforts of Secretary-General Huang Ching-Jian of the Wufeng District Farmers' Association, with strong support from the Council of Agriculture and Taichung City Government, and in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Institute, National Chung Hsing University, Asia University, Chaoyang University of Technology, the National Museum of Natural Science, experts in mushroom cultivation, and the Taiwanese mushroom industry, the museum was renovated and redefined to serve the purpose of developing the Wufeng mushroom industry chain, and was renamed the Wufeng Mushroom Industry-Academia Pavilion. The Farmers' Association also features a Taiwan Agricultural and Fisheries Products Pavilion on the fourth floor, offering biotechnological products, cultural and creative items, and various everyday applications made from locally sourced high-quality mushrooms, allowing the public to better understand industry development trends. The pavilion collaborates with Taiwanese agricultural and fishery associations to promote high-quality local agricultural (special) product gift sets, providing a rich experience in mushroom knowledge while allowing visitors to purchase premium local agricultural (special) products all in one place.
