Wufeng Mushroom Industry Academic Center Introduction
The Wufeng Farmers' Association established the Wufeng Mushroom Museum, covering an area of 400 ping, in 1998. It is one of the only museums in Taiwan and one of the few in the world dedicated to introducing knowledge about mushrooms. The museum provides detailed information on mushrooms worldwide, particularly Taiwan’s varieties, making it a valuable treasure of knowledge. Since the first successful cultivation of the button mushroom by the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute in 1953, Wufeng District has been at the forefront of the mushroom industry in Taiwan since the early 1950s. With assistance from relevant government agencies, Wufeng has truly become a "Kingdom of Mushrooms." In 2022, under the efforts of Secretary-General Huang Ching-Chien of the Wufeng Farmers' Association, and with strong support from the Council of Agriculture and Taichung City Government, combined with the help of the Agricultural Research Institute, National Chung Hsing University, National Taichung University of Science and Technology, Chaoyang University of Technology, the National Museum of Natural Science, and various experts and industry practitioners in Taiwan’s mushroom sector, the museum was renovated and given the function of developing the Wufeng mushroom industry chain, being renamed the "Wufeng Mushroom Industry and Academia Pavilion." The association also established a "Taiwan Agricultural and Fishery Products Pavilion" on the fourth floor, offering biotechnological products, creative cultural items, and various practical goods made from locally produced quality mushrooms, allowing the public to better understand industry development trends. Additionally, the pavilion features high-quality local agricultural products in collaboration with Taiwan’s agricultural associations, providing visitors not only a rich journey of mushroom knowledge but also the opportunity to purchase quality Taiwanese agricultural products all at once.
