Wufeng Mushroom Industry Academy Introduction
The Wufeng District Farmers' Association established the Wufeng Mushroom Museum in 1998, covering an area of 400 square meters. It is the only museum in Taiwan and one of the few in the world dedicated to introducing knowledge about mushrooms. The museum provides a detailed introduction to mushrooms worldwide, especially those native to Taiwan, making it a valuable repository of knowledge. Since the successful cultivation of Taiwan's first white mushroom at the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute in 1953, Wufeng District has dominated the mushroom industry in Taiwan since the early 1950s. With the support of government agencies, Wufeng has indeed become a "Kingdom of Mushrooms." In 2022, under the efforts of Secretary-General Huang Ching-Chien of the Wufeng District Farmers' Association, the museum received strong support from the Council of Agriculture and the Taichung City Government. With assistance from the Agricultural Research Institute, National Chung Hsing University, Asia University, Chaoyang University, the National Museum of Natural Science, mushroom experts and scholars, and industry stakeholders, the museum was renovated and given a new function to develop the Wufeng mushroom industry chain, and it was renamed the Wufeng Mushroom Industry-Academia Museum. Additionally, located on the fourth floor of the farmers' association, there is the Taiwan Agricultural and Fishery Products Exhibition Hall, which offers biotechnological products made from high-quality local mushrooms, cultural and creative products, and various life application goods for the public to better understand industry development trends. The museum also collaborates with Taiwanese agricultural and fishery associations to launch a collection of high-quality local agricultural (special) products, allowing visitors to enjoy a rich journey of mushroom knowledge while also being able to purchase Taiwan's premium agricultural (special) products all at once.
