Madou Dai Tian Temple Introduction

Madou Daitian Temple, also known as the "Five Kings Temple," is dedicated to the Five Lords, who patrol the heavens to protect the people from plagues and inspect the deeds of mortals. The temple has a flourishing incense offering. According to legend, the Five Lords of Nankunshen Daitian Temple were originally worshiped in Madou, but after the geographical area of the temple was damaged, the Five Lords relocated to Nankunshen. Later, due to an outbreak of plague in Madou, worshippers from Nankunshen were invited to return the Five Lords for processions in Madou year after year. It wasn't until 1956, upon the instruction of the Five Lords, that a temple was built at the current site.
