Madou Lin Family Four Houses Introduction
Due to economic and political strength, the "Lin Family of Madou" was at that time renowned alongside the "Lin Family of Wufeng in Taichung" and the "Lin Family of Banqiao in Taipei," collectively referred to as the "Three Lins of Taiwan." With the division of inheritance and urban development leading to skyrocketing land prices, some of the seven exquisite mansions built during the Qing Dynasty faced demolition and reconstruction due to differing views among the owners—one of the earliest to be demolished was the "New Four-Story House." Due to varying perspectives on preserving the old mansion, the left half of the central axis was demolished in May 1978.
