Lín Family House No. 4 in Madou Introduction
Due to economic and political power, the "Lin Family of Madou" was at the time regarded with the same prestige as the "Lin Family of Wufeng in Taichung" and the "Lin Family of Banqiao in Taipei," collectively known as the "Three Lins of Taiwan." Over time, with inheritance divisions and urban development leading to skyrocketing land prices, seven exquisite mansions built during the Qing Dynasty faced demolition or reconstruction due to differing opinions among the owners. The "New Four-Block House" was one of the earlier ones to be demolished for this reason. Due to varying views among the owners on the preservation of the old residences, part of the left side of the central axis was demolished in May 1978 (the 67th year of the Republic of China).
