Lin Family Mansion and Garden in Madou Introduction
Due to economic and political strength, the "Lin Family of Madou" was renowned at the time and was considered alongside the "Lin Family of Wufeng in Taichung" and the "Lin Family of Banqiao in Taipei," collectively known as the "Three Lins of Taiwan." With family divisions and urban development leading to skyrocketing land prices, some of the seven exquisite mansions built during the Qing Dynasty were demolished or rebuilt due to differing views of the owners, with the "New Four-Block House" being one of the earlier structures to face demolition. Due to differing opinions among the owners regarding the preservation of the old residence, the left half of the central axis was demolished in May of the 67th year of the Republic (1978 AD).
