The Lin Family Mansion and Garden in Madou Introduction
Due to economic and political power, the "Lin Family of Madou" was renowned alongside the "Lin Family of Wufeng in Taichung" and the "Lin Family of Banqiao in Taipei," collectively known as the "Three Lins of Taiwan." With the division of inheritance and urban development causing skyrocketing land prices, the seven exquisite mansions built during the Qing Dynasty faced demolition and reconstruction due to differing opinions among the owners. The "New Four-Story House" was one of the earlier victims of such demolition. Due to the varying views of the owners on preserving the old residence, part of the left side of the central axis was demolished in May 1978.
