Hulupi Natural Park Introduction
The historic Hulupi was excavated in 1770 for irrigation and water storage. It was originally called Fanzi Tianpi. Later, as roads passed through it, it resembled a gourd tied with straps, hence the name Hulupi. Surrounding it, many water chestnut fields often see farmers paddling small boats, creating a picturesque scene known as "Lingxiang Zhouying," one of the Eight Sceneries of New South Wind. The area, thriving with healthy ecology, is also home to the beautiful water hen, known as the "Fairy on the Waves." Whenever one takes the high-speed rail into Tainan, the red suspension bridge on the lake's surface can be seen extending like the curve of a water chestnut amidst the croaking frogs and the scenic fields and lakes.
