Xiaonong Xuantian Shangdi Temple and Cultural Center Introduction
The Xianyuan Emperor Temple is located in the busiest area of Xiaying and serves as both a landmark and a center of faith for the Xiaying District. The temple was built in 1661 AD and is said to have been initiated by Liu Guoxuan, a general under Koxinga, during the reclamation period in Xiaying. After several renovations, it has now become a large three-story temple building with magnificent grandeur. Every year on the third day of the third lunar month marks the birthday of the Xianyuan Emperor, and from March 1 to 5 is the busiest time in Xiaying, almost akin to an annual carnival. Teams from all over Taiwan gather, and the people of Xiaying follow the sacred palanquin to parade around, praying for blessings.
