The Qishan Butokuden, built in 1934, is constructed in the traditional Japanese temple style. However, because many Japanese temples are modeled after Tang Dynasty architecture, the Butokuden also exhibits a strong Tang Dynasty influence.

Qishan Wude Temple Introduction

During the Second World War, Japan promoted militarism and advocated the national spirit of Japan, "Bushido Spirit." In addition to this, they built dojos throughout various locations for Japanese military and youth to practice judo and kendo and to promote martial arts. The Budo Hall in Qishan, completed in 1934, is located at the foot of Gushan Park and is constructed in a traditional Japanese-style temple design. However, as Japanese temples often imitate Tang dynasty architecture, the Budo Hall also showcases a significant Tang dynasty influence. In 1994, the Budo Hall was destroyed by a fire, and after renovations, the transparent glass canopy could not blend with the existing Japanese ambiance of the building. It underwent a second reconstruction at the end of 2014, restoring the original historical appearance. Currently, it is managed by the Qishan Banana City Art Association, and the main structure is planned to serve as an exhibition space, cultural and creative market, thematic lectures, and talent teaching.
