Chihshan Martial Arts Hall Introduction
During Japan's initiation of World War II, in order to advocate for militarism, it not only vigorously promoted the Japanese national spirit of "Bushido" but also built dojos in various places for Japanese military and police personnel as well as youth to practice judo and kendo, promoting martial arts. The Kisha Budo Hall, built in 1934, is located at the foot of Gushan Park and constructed in a traditional Japanese temple-style architecture. However, since many Japanese temples are modeled after Tang Dynasty architecture, the Budo Hall also exhibits a strong Tang Dynasty style. In 1994, the Budo Hall was destroyed by a fire, and after renovation, the transparent glass canopy was unable to blend into the traditional Japanese atmosphere of the existing building. By the end of 2014, it underwent a second reconstruction to restore its original historical appearance. The Budo Hall is currently managed by the Qishan Banana City Art Association, which has repurposed the main structure into an exhibition space, creative market, themed seminars, and skill teaching.
