Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung and belongs to the right cluster of the Hakka civil defense organization "Liudui" in the Kaoping River Basin. It is a small town in southern Taiwan rich in Hakka cultural characteristics and has a simple and unpretentious lifestyle. Unlike the densely populated Qishan nearby, Meinong maintains a leisurely atmosphere reminiscent of earlier times. The Meinong Hakka Cultural Village perfectly preserves Hakka culture and combines local industrial elites to introduce the human geography, living customs, and rich tourism content of Meinong. The architecture of the Meinong Hakka Cultural Village combines tobacco barns and courtyard houses, encapsulating the Hakka culture of Meinong. Within the park, visitors can appreciate and personally create traditional crafts such as oiled paper umbrellas, pottery wheel throwing, grinding lei cha (Hakka tea), and taste old-fashioned ice treats and Hakka cuisine. Stepping into the Meinong Hakka Cultural Village feels like entering a Hakka rural area, where small pools with traditional farming shapes, such as ox carts and stone mills, are located on both sides of the entrance, adding to the vintage charm and making it a memorable visit.
