Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung and belongs to the right pile of the Hakka civil defense organization "Liu Dui" in the Gaoping River basin. It is a small town rich in Hakka cultural characteristics and has a simple folk customs, distinctly different from the densely populated Ciaotou nearby. The slow-paced Meinong retains the leisurely feeling of early years. The Meinong Folk Village fully preserves Hakka culture, integrating local industrial elites to introduce the cultural geography, living customs, and rich tourism content of Meinong. The architecture of Meinong Folk Village combines tobacco barns and courtyard-style buildings, encapsulating the Hakka culture of Meinong. Within the park, visitors can appreciate and personally craft traditional handicrafts such as oil paper umbrellas, pottery, grind Lei Cha (Hakka tea), and taste traditional desserts and Hakka cuisine. Walking into Meinong Folk Village feels like stepping into a Hakka rural community, with small ponds shaped like old-fashioned farmhouses, featuring ox carts and stone mills on either side of the entrance, enhancing the antique atmosphere that leaves visitors reluctant to leave.
