Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung and belongs to the right pile of the Hakka civil defense organization "Liudui" in the Kaoping River basin. It is a small town in southern Taiwan that is rich in Hakka cultural characteristics and has a simple folk style. Unlike the densely populated Qishan next door, Meinong retains the leisurely feel of earlier times. Meinong Folk Village fully preserves Hakka culture and combines local industry elites to introduce the cultural geography, living customs, and rich tourism content of Meinong. The architecture of Meinong Folk Village combines tobacco barns and courtyard houses, encapsulating the Hakka culture of Meinong. Visitors can appreciate and personally DIY traditional crafts such as oiled paper umbrellas, pottery wheel throwing, grinding Lei tea, and tasting old-fashioned ice desserts and Hakka cuisine. Entering Meinong Folk Village feels like stepping into a Hakka rural village, with small ponds shaped like ancient rural designs featuring ox carts and stone mills on both sides of the entrance, adding to the antique atmosphere and making it a place worth lingering in.
