Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung, belonging to the right group of the Hakka civil defense organization "Liudui" in the Gaoping River basin. It is a small town in southern Taiwan that is rich in Hakka cultural characteristics and has a simple and unpretentious folkway. Unlike the densely populated Cijian nearby, the slower pace of Meinong retains a sense of leisure from earlier times. The Meinong Cultural Village fully preserves Hakka culture and collaborates with local industry elites to introduce the cultural geography, lifestyle, and rich tourism content of Meinong. The architecture of the Meinong Cultural Village combines tobacco barns and traditional courtyards, encapsulating Hakka culture. Visitors can admire and personally DIY traditional crafts such as oiled paper umbrellas, pottery, grinding Lei Cha, and taste old-fashioned shaved ice and Hakka cuisine. Walking into the Meinong Cultural Village feels like stepping into a Hakka rural setting, with small ponds shaped like ancient farms featuring ox carts and stone mills on both sides of the entrance, adding to the nostalgic charm that makes one linger.
