Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung, located within the "Liudui" Hakka civil defense organization of the Gaoping River basin. It is a small town in southern Taiwan rich in Hakka cultural features and known for its simple folk customs. Unlike the densely populated Qishan nearby, the leisurely pace of Meinong retains a sense of tranquility from earlier times. The Meinong Cultural Village fully preserves Hakka culture and collaborates with local industry elites to introduce Meinong's cultural geography, living customs, and rich tourism content. The architecture of the Meinong Cultural Village combines tobacco barns and courtyard-style buildings, encapsulating the essence of Hakka culture in Meinong. Within the park, visitors can appreciate and personally DIY traditional crafts such as oiled paper umbrellas, hand-thrown pottery, grinding Lei tea, and tasting classic icy desserts and Hakka cuisine. Walking into the Meinong Cultural Village feels like stepping into a Hakka rural village, where small water pools resembling ancient farmland features, such as ox carts and stone mills, are found on both sides at the entrance, enhancing the vintage atmosphere that makes visitors reluctant to leave.
