Meinong Folk Village Introduction
Meinong is the largest Hakka settlement in Kaohsiung and is part of the "Liudui" Hakka community defense organization in the Gaoping River basin. It is a small town rich in Hakka cultural characteristics and has a simple and unpretentious lifestyle, contrasting with the densely populated Qishan nearby. Meinong retains a leisurely atmosphere reminiscent of earlier times. The Meinong Folk Village fully preserves Hakka culture and integrates local industry elites to introduce the cultural geography, customs, and rich tourism content of Meinong. The architecture of the Meinong Folk Village combines tobacco barns and courtyard houses, encapsulating Meinong's Hakka culture. Visitors can appreciate and personally engage in DIY traditional crafts such as making oil paper umbrellas, pottery wheel throwing, grinding Lei Cha, and tasting traditional icy treats and Hakka cuisine. Stepping into the Meinong Folk Village feels like entering a Hakka farming village, with small ponds shaped like traditional rural elements, such as ox carts and stone mills, on both sides of the entrance, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere that captivates visitors.
