Yuan-Ding Linzi-Bian Police Station (Linyuan History Classroom) Introduction
The Linyuan Police Station, hidden in the market, is also a historic building in Linyuan. Established in 1898 (the 31st year of the Meiji era), along with the popular market in Linyuan, it was one of the earliest government offices in the Linyuan area. Built during the Japanese colonial period, the architecture is primarily in the Japanese style. It features dormitories, gardens, an ancient well, air raid shelters, and a water tower for daily use. The police station itself is a mixed brick and wood structure of Japanese design, giving visitors a feeling reminiscent of a small Kyoto. Inside, there are displays showcasing Linyuan's local products, such as onions and longfin grouper, as well as the construction techniques of the dormitory building. The building is full of Japanese charm, attracting many visitors for outdoor photography, especially among the younger crowd.
