Wuhe Temple, Qionglin Introduction
Built in the first year of the Jiaqing Emperor's reign (1796 AD), Wuhe Temple is dedicated to the Heavenly Queen and has a history of over 200 years! The temple is located in Wulong Village, Qionglin Township. As the only guardian deity of the five major villages—Luliaokeng, Shanzhulake, Dadu, Hengshan, and Shakeng—it is named "Wuhe Temple." During the Japanese colonial period, due to years of disrepair and pressure from the Japanese, the temple was temporarily moved to a private residence. In 1947, local dignitaries led by Qiu A-liang renovated it and welcomed the deity back to the temple. In 1989, after over forty years since the renovation, local believers decided to demolish and rebuild it, appointing Lai Yuanzhang as the chairman of the reconstruction committee. In November of the same year, the new temple was completed, adorned with intricate carvings and grand architecture, making it the most magnificent temple in the Wulong area. The birthday of the Heavenly Queen, celebrated on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, is the most grand festival and worship day at Wuhe Temple, attracting residents from Luliaokeng, Shanzhulake, Dadu, Hengshan, and Shakeng to hold a grand celebration.
