Xinyi Citizen's Hall and Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park - Si Si Nan Cun Introduction

Sisini South Village is a product of the Chinese Civil War and the first military dependents' village in the Taipei area. It is named "Sisini South Village" because it is located south of the Sisini Arsenal. Within the park, there is a fortress that was intentionally preserved by the designer. Although it has lost its original function, it stands as a trace of the history of Sisini South Village. The park features many exhibition halls and retains several residential houses that maintain the appearance of that time. Additionally, many cultural and creative elements have been added, along with numerous products for sale. Building A – Parent-Child Center: This space provides a warm gaming environment for families and fills the retro space of the former dependents' village with creativity. Utilizing natural materials and handmade themed educational toys, families can play, nurture, learn, and grow together, creating a home-like atmosphere filled with emotion and constant discovery. Building B – Cultural Artifacts Exhibition Hall: This hall mainly serves as a static display for the cultural preservation of Sisini South Village, showcasing themes such as the historical trajectory of Sisini South Village, cultural arts, mothers of the dependents' village, local delicacies, everyday life, playfulness, handicrafts, and a multimedia screening room. Building C – Haoshou Cultural and Creative Dining Space: Currently rented by Zhongzi Cultural Co., Ltd., this venue is named "Haoshou" and features light meals, including bread, bagels, hamburgers, and coffee, integrating local culture with art exhibitions, making it an excellent spot for casual dining. Building D – Arts, Bookstore, and Theatre: The PLAYground South Village Theatre · Bluebird · Design is a collaboration between "Tsinghua Media, Bluebird, and uDesign," creating a new type of space that blends theatre, reading, design, and culinary creativity. During the day, it serves as an organic bookstore with thousands of themed books and hundreds of design products, while at night, it transforms into a showcase for new Taiwanese theatre troupes, scripts, and productions. The Xinyi Civic Center is one of the four symmetrical buildings in Sisini South Village, retaining the unique architectural style of military dependents' villages. Surrounded by the Dependents' Village Cultural Park, Jingxin Park, spacious pedestrian plazas, and Xinyi Elementary School, it provides ample public open space for local residents, Taipei citizens, and even travelers staying in nearby hotels in the Xinyi District, making it an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a leisurely walk. Sisini South Village has become a gathering place for civilian dependents' village culture. The low-rise buildings with their old-time charm contrast sharply with the commercial skyscrapers of Taipei's financial center, coexisting alongside architectural styles that showcase the past and present of the Xinyi District.
