Taipei City Government Introduction
The Taipei City Hall, located in the Xinyi Planning District, is one of the landmarks in the area, situated at the end of Ren'ai Road. From the observation deck of Taipei 101, the architecture of the building resembles a "Double Tenth" shape. Inside the City Hall, the Taipei Exploratorium offers rich exhibits and guided services, making it the first stop for many domestic and international tourists to learn about Taipei. The Taipei City Government serves as the administrative body of Taipei City, established in October 1945. It officially became a municipality on July 1, 1967. After the conversion, the position of the mayor changed from being appointed to an elected position on December 25, 1994. Since the conversion, due to the urgent demands of municipal construction, organizational structures have changed, resulting in the abolition and consolidation of outdated agencies while many new departments and schools have been established. Currently, the City Government oversees organizations including the Civil Affairs Bureau, Finance Bureau, Education Bureau, Industrial Development Bureau, Public Works Bureau, Transportation Bureau, Social Affairs Bureau, Labor Affairs Bureau, Police Department, Health Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Urban Development Bureau, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Fire Department, MRT Engineering Bureau, Taipei Feitsui Reservoir Management Office, Tourism and Communication Bureau, Land Administration Bureau, Military Service Bureau, Sports Bureau, Information Bureau, Ministry of Justice, and Youth Bureau, totaling 23 bureaus; as well as the Secretariat, Accounting Office, Personnel Office, Department of Government Ethics, and Civil Service Training Center, among 5 offices; and committees such as the Research and Development Assessment Committee, Urban Planning Committee, Indigenous Peoples Affairs Commission, and Hakka Affairs Committee, totaling 4 committees; along with the Taipei Water Department, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, Engineering Headquarters, and Personal Property Pledge Department as 4 business institutions, and 12 district offices.
