National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Introduction
The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall's "Main Hall and Surrounding Facilities Project" is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and is currently undergoing renovations and is not open to the public. Completed in 1972, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall commemorates the revolutionary deeds and virtues of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and promotes his ideological teachings, designed by architect Wang Da-hong. In addition to serving as a place for domestic and international visitors to pay tribute to Dr. Sun, it also integrates functions for cultural, artistic education, recreation, and academic research. The majestic and solemn structure is situated in the lush and verdant Zhongshan Park, making it a brilliant star in Taipei's eastern district. It also brings a fresh perspective to the nation's cultural and artistic scene, hosting numerous artistic activities, such as literary corridors, cultural and art exhibitions, and youth creations. Moreover, it offers excellent indoor performance spaces for theatrical events, including well-known awards ceremonies like the Golden Horse Awards and Golden Bell Awards, which have been held here. During the mornings, one can see elderly individuals practicing Tai Chi or performing folk dances. On holidays, the spacious plaza serves as a great spot for families to play frisbee, rollerblade, and enjoy leisurely walks.
