Zhaoming Temple - Lover's Temple Introduction
Zhaoming Temple (also known as Zhaoming Jin Temple or Lover's Temple) is located on the hillside in front of the Beitou Military Rock, surrounded by mountains, offering a tranquil environment and a broad view of the Guandu Plain. Standing here and gazing at the Guandu Plain in the distance, one feels a sense of openness and relaxation. The architecture of the temple is quite distinctive, with the main hall resembling a spire topped by a dragon, exuding a sense of spirituality. The main deity of Zhaoming Temple is the "Four-faced Thousand-hand Guanyin," who blesses health, marriage, brightness, and wealth. In the past, it was also known as the "Lover's Temple" due to the display of wax figures of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl! The temple is home to a popular wishing area. Visitors can write their wishes on paper or wooden plaques, worship the Four-faced Thousand-hand Guanyin, and drop their papers into the offering box beside the Guanyin. Afterward, they can visit the wishing pond, which has six basins representing wishes for romantic relationships, health, wealth, and more. What you wish for can be thrown into the basins using a few coins, with the wooden plaques hung on the nearby wishing pavilion as a testimony of your wishes. It is said to be very effective—those who pray will be blessed! The wishing pavilion in the temple square has the inscription "True love is unseen by others; false love is known by the heavens," serving as a reminder for lovers everywhere to cherish their feelings and avoid false affection, with hopes that all lovers in the world will become ideal pairs.
