Beitou Park Introduction

Beitou always offers endless cultural narratives, legends, and stories. After descending the Xinbeitou MRT station, follow the rising steam of the hot springs, and you will be greeted by the lush scenery of this hot spring town, Beitou Park. Beitou Park consists of urban planning parks number 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first thing that catches the eye is the entrance fountain completed in 2009, which dances with light and water daily in sync with music, infusing new life into Beitou, a historically rich area of old Taipei. Along Guangming Road, you will pass by rare old trees like the white thousand-layer tree and the rubber seed tree, witnessing the rich history of Beitou Park, which is nearing its centenary. On the journey, you will also encounter the first constructed green library by the Taipei Public Library, emphasizing energy conservation and bringing an atmosphere of books to Beitou Park. The fountain at the entrance is also a preferred filming location. As you continue along the Beitou Stream, you will find the "Beitou stone," the only stone in the world named after a place in Taiwan, although it is no longer visible today. Ascending along the path, you will arrive at the Zhongshan Road side, where aside from the Beitou open-air hot spring pools, there is also the historical building "Meiting," nominated by Mr. Yu Youren. It has been planned by the Taipei City Government's Tourism and Communication Bureau to become the Meiting Visitor Center, providing the most considerate service for tourists, as well as the famous hot spring museum. The wooden window lattice and red brick architecture of the museum blend Japanese and Western styles, still carrying the unique scent of sulfur, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the architecture from the Japanese colonial period. With the murmuring streams and the swaying greenery surrounding it, being here feels like a journey back in time. Beitou Park is full of intriguing old stories and a diverse community of flora and fauna, with other famous attractions like the Geothermal Valley nearby. Take the opportunity to plan a refreshing intellectual journey during the holidays, and you will surely return home fulfilled.
