Beitou Park Introduction
"Beitou" always offers endless cultural tales, legends, and stories. Upon exiting the Xinbeitou MRT station, follow the billowing steam of the hot springs, and you will be greeted by the lush scenery of the hot spring town, which is Beitou Park. Beitou Park consists of urban planning parks numbered 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first thing that catches the eye is the entrance fountain completed in 2009, which dances with lights and water to music at fixed times each day, injecting fresh vitality into this culturally rich old Taipei area. Along Mingming Road, you will pass rare old trees like the Cinnamomum camphora and the Ficus microcarpa, witnessing the park's rich history approaching its centennial. The journey also takes you past the green library built by the Taipei Public Library, emphasizing energy conservation and infusing the park with a bookish atmosphere. The fountain at the entrance is also a popular film shooting location. Moving along the Beitou Creek, you will find the "Beitou Stone," the only stone in the world named after a place in Taiwan, originating from this area, although it is now no longer seen. Ascend the steps along the path to the side of Zhongshan Road, where besides the Beitou open-air hot spring baths, there is also the historical building "Meiting," nominated by Mr. Yu Youren. This has now been planned by the Taipei City Government's Tourism and Communications Office as the Meiting Visitor Center to provide the most considerate services to visitors. There is also the famous Hot Springs Museum, with wooden windows reflecting both Japanese and Western styles, and red brick architecture, seemingly still filled with the distinctive scent of sulfur, allowing one to appreciate the beauty of architecture from the Japanese colonial era. Surrounded by babbling streams and swaying greenery, being there feels like stepping back into the leisurely times of the past. Beitou Park has countless old stories and a variety of flora and fauna, and nearby famous attractions like the Geothermal Valley await your visit. Why not plan a refreshing and intellectual journey on the weekend? You will surely return with abundant experiences.
