Beitou Park Introduction
Beitou always offers endless cultural insights, legends, and stories. Arriving at the Xinbeitou MRT Station, you can follow the drifting hot spring steam ahead to the verdant scenic beauty of the hot spring town, which is Beitou Park. Beitou Park is composed of various urban planning parks, including No. 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first sight that catches your eye is the entrance fountain completed in 2009, which dances with water, light, and music at fixed times every day, injecting new vitality into the culturally rich old Taipei area of Beitou. Along Guangming Road, you can pass by rare old trees like the Paperbark Tree and the Lu Hua Tree, witnessing the rich history of Beitou Park as it approaches its centennial. On the journey, you will also encounter the Green Library, built by the Taipei Public Library, which emphasizes energy conservation and brings a literary atmosphere to Beitou Park. The fountain at the entrance is also a popular choice for film shooting. As you continue along the Beitou River, you’ll find the world's only stone named after a Taiwanese place — "Beitou Stone," which was produced here, although it is no longer visible today. Crossing the path and climbing the steps, you reach the Zhongshan Road side, where alongside the Beitou outdoor hot spring pools is the historical building "Meiting," nominated by Mr. Yu Youren. It has now been planned by the Taipei City Government’s Tourism and Communication Office as the Meiting Visitor Center to provide the most considerate services for tourists. The famous Hot Spring Museum, featuring a blend of Japanese and Western architecture, with wooden window grilles and red brick structures, seems to still carry the distinct aroma of sulfur, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of architecture from the Japanese colonial era. Surrounded by the gentle flow of streams and swaying greenery, you feel as if you've returned to the leisurely times of the past. Beitou Park is full of untold old stories and diverse flora and fauna, with renowned attractions such as the Geothermal Valley nearby. It is advisable to plan a refreshing and intellectually stimulating trip during the holidays, and you will surely return enriched.
