Beitou Park Introduction
Beitou always offers endless cultural tales, legends, and stories. After getting off at the Xinbeitou MRT Station, follow the curling steam of the hot springs, and you will be greeted by the lush beauty of the hot spring village, which is Beitou Park. Beitou Park consists of various urban planning parks numbered 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first thing that catches your eye is the dancing fountain completed in 2009, which dances to music with lights and water at scheduled times, injecting new life into Beitou, an area rich in culture. Along Guangming Road, you will pass by rare ancient trees like the Alstonia scholaris and the Ficus macrophylla, witnessing the park's rich history as it approaches its centenary. On your journey, you'll also encounter the Green Library, the first building constructed by the Taipei Public Library, which emphasizes energy conservation and adds a literary aroma to Beitou Park. The fountain at the entrance is a popular filming location. Continuing along the Beitou Stream, you will find the unique "Beitou Stone," which is named after Taiwan, though it is no longer seen today. As you stroll up the pathway, you will reach the Zhongshan Road side, where, in addition to the Beitou Outdoor Hot Spring Pools, you will find the historical building "Meiting," named after Mr. Yu Youren, which is currently planned by the Taipei City Government's Tourism and Communication Department as the Meiting Visitor Center to provide the most considerate services for tourists. The renowned Hot Spring Museum, with its wooden window lattice and red-brick architecture that blends Japanese and Western styles, still seems to waft with the distinct sulfur scent, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the architecture from the Japanese colonial period. Surrounded by gently flowing streams and swaying green shades, being here feels like stepping back into a bygone era. Beitou Park is full of untold old stories and various plants and animals, with famous attractions like the Geothermal Valley nearby. Why not plan a refreshing and intellectual journey on the weekend? You are sure to return filled with experiences.
