Beitou Park Introduction
Beitou always offers an endless array of culture, legends, and stories. After getting off at the Xinbeitou MRT Station, follow the rising steam of the hot springs, and you will find yourself in the lush beauty of Beitou Park. Beitou Park is composed of several urban planning parks including No. 1, 2, 4, 54, and 55, covering an area of 61,129 square meters. The first thing that catches your eye is the entrance fountain completed in 2009, which dances with lights and water at fixed times each day, infusing new life into this culturally rich, old Taipei area. Along Guangming Road, you will pass rare old trees like the Paperbark Tree and the Albizia Tree, bearing witness to the rich history of Beitou Park, which is nearing its centennial. Along the way, you will also encounter the first green library built by the Taipei Public Library, emphasizing energy conservation and bringing a literary fragrance to Beitou Park. The fountain at the entrance is a popular filming location. Proceed along the Beitou Stream, where the world’s only stone named after a Taiwanese place, Beitou Stone, is produced, although it is no longer seen today. Climb the small path up to Zhongshan Road, where you will find the Beitou outdoor hot spring bath and beside it, the historical building "Meiting," named by Mr. Yu Youren, which is now planned by the Taipei City Government's Tourism and Communication Department as the Meiting Visitor Center to provide the most thoughtful service for visitors. There is also the famous Hot Spring Museum, featuring a fusion of Japanese and Western architectural styles with wooden windows and red brick structures, exuding a distinctive sulfur scent that reflects the beauty of the Japanese colonial era architecture. Surrounded by babbling streams and swaying greenery, you will feel as though you have returned to a bygone era. Beitou Park is filled with untold old stories and a variety of flora and fauna, with well-known attractions like the Geothermal Valley nearby.
