Beitou New Village Introduction

Beitou Center New Village is one of the 13 military dependents' villages preservation areas approved by the Ministry of National Defense, and it is one of the few remaining fully intact military dependents' villages in Taipei City. The development of the Center New Village is closely related to the Beitou Branch of the Tri-Service General Hospital (formerly the Japanese Army's Beitou branch hospital), and the well-preserved architecture of military dependents' houses from different periods combines with Beitou's unique historical context, hot spring culture, and living memories, making it an important historical site in Beitou. In 2021, the Taipei Cultural Foundation started operating here, promoting the preservation and redevelopment of the settlement through spatial revitalization and residency programs, enhancing local historical research and studies on military dependents' village culture, and gradually establishing a cultural and living space that is historical, educational, and informational. Beitou Center New Village aims to serve as the "Cultural Preservation Base for Military Dependents' Villages in Taipei City," with a development focus and important goals that connect resources from the New Beitou area and promote regional integration, showcasing the diverse and rich community stories of Beitou, bringing new characteristics and highlights to the area.
