Beitou New Village Introduction
Beitou Center New Village is one of the 13 military dependents' village preservation areas approved by the Ministry of National Defense, and it is one of the few remaining complete military dependents' villages in Taipei City. The development of the Center New Village residences is closely related to the Beitou Branch of the Tri-Service General Hospital (formerly the Japanese Army Garrison Hospital Beitou Branch), and the well-preserved residences from different periods combine Beitou's unique historical context, hot spring culture, and living memories, making the Center New Village an important historical site in Beitou. In 2021, the Taipei Cultural Foundation took charge of its operations, promoting preservation and redevelopment of the settlement through space activation and residence programs, facilitating local cultural and historical surveys, as well as research on military dependents' village culture, and gradually establishing a cultural and living space that is historical, educational, and informative. Beitou Center New Village aims to develop as a "Cultural Preservation Base for Military Dependents' Villages in Taipei City" and serves as an important goal, linking resources from the New Beitou area and promoting regional integration, showcasing the diverse and rich community stories of Beitou, bringing new characteristics and highlights to the area.
