Beitou Central Village Introduction

Beitou Center New Village is one of the 13 military dependents' village preservation areas approved by the Ministry of National Defense, and is one of the few remaining intact military dependents' villages in Taipei City. The development of the Center New Village quarters is closely related to the Beitou Branch of the Tri-Service General Hospital (formerly the Japanese military garrison hospital Beitou branch), and the complete preservation of different architectural types of quarters from various periods combines Beitou's unique historical context, hot spring culture, and living memories, making Center New Village an important historical site in Beitou. In 2021, the Taipei Cultural Foundation began operating in the area, promoting the preservation and redevelopment of the village through space revitalization and resident programs, facilitating local historical investigations and research on military dependents' village culture, and gradually establishing a culturally rich space with historical, educational, and intellectual significance. Beitou Center New Village aims to serve as a "Cultural Preservation Base for Military Dependents' Villages in Taipei City," connecting resources from the New Beitou area and promoting integration across regions, showcasing the diverse and rich community stories of Beitou, bringing fresh characteristics and highlights to the area.
