Beitou Branch, Taipei Public Library Introduction
Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch is Taiwan's first green building library, located in the lush and ecologically rich Beitou Park, neighboring the Beitou Hot Spring Museum. The library features one basement level and two above-ground floors, with a total area of 650 ping. The indoor aroma of books and the outdoor chirping of birds create an enjoyable reading experience. With a collection of over ten thousand books, the library highlights "ecological conservation" as its collection feature, making it a paradise for book lovers. The indoor reading area is thoughtfully designed, harmonizing with the architecture, while the outdoor area includes wooden pathway seating and reading platforms, allowing visitors to enjoy a gentle breeze while immersing themselves in the world of books. When you need a rest, stepping outside offers a view of a lush forest and an ecological lotus pond, providing relief for tired eyes and relaxation for the body and mind. The roof features a lightweight ecological design with solar panels generating 16 kilowatts of electricity. Extensive balcony shading and vertical wooden trellises reduce heat radiation indoors, achieving energy conservation. The green roof and sloped grassy areas naturally manage moisture, directing rainwater to recovery tanks for reuse in irrigation and flushing toilets, promoting greenery and reducing water waste. The building uses recyclable wood and steel materials to minimize waste and environmental impact. Regarding indoor health and environmental indicators, the wood materials are treated for termite prevention, and ecological paints are applied to eliminate unnecessary renovation, reducing pollution and toxic substance release to protect human health. When visiting Beitou, you can enjoy hot springs and also experience the fusion of literary aroma and greenery in a forest bath! Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch (Chinese Introduction Video)
