National Taiwan Museum of Fossils Introduction
Located opposite the 228 Peace Memorial Park, this Natural History-based Museum of Paleontology is repurposed from the historic Kuan-Yeh Bank building left over from the Japanese colonial period. The exterior features a massive Roman colonnade stone structure, with walls constructed using the segmented gray seam method. The cast-iron windows are designed for easy opening and closing with pulleys and counterweights, and they are embedded with hexagonal wire mesh and embossed glass, showcasing the construction techniques and craftsmanship of the time. The three-story high atrium is decorated with plaster relief sculptures, and inside it displays a variety of ancient biological specimens and large dinosaur models, along with permanent exhibitions on the history of the Land Bank and building restoration.
