National Taiwan Museum - Geological Museum Introduction
Located opposite the 228 Memorial Park, this natural history museum primarily focuses on paleontology and is repurposed from the historic Kuan-Yeh Bank building from the Japanese colonial period. The exterior features a massive stone structure with Roman columns, and the walls are made using a split-grout technique. The cast-iron windows utilize a pulley system and counterweights for easy opening and closing, with hexagonal wire mesh embedded in the glass, reflecting the construction techniques and craftsmanship of the time. The grand three-story atrium is decorated with gypsum relief sculptures, showcasing various paleontological specimens and large dinosaur models, along with permanent exhibitions on the history of the Land Bank and architectural restoration.
