National Taiwan Museum - Geological and Paleontological Museum Introduction
Located opposite the 228 Peace Memorial Park, the Natural History Museum is a paleontological exhibition hall that repurposes the historic Shunyi Bank building from the Japanese colonial period. The exterior features a massive stone building with Roman-style columns, while the walls are constructed using a segmented mortar technique. The cast iron windows utilize a pulley and weight system for easy opening and closing, and they are embedded with hexagonal wire mesh and glass treated with embossed designs, showcasing the construction techniques and craftsmanship of the time. The three-story high hall is decorated with gypsum relief sculptures, and it displays various paleontological specimens and large dinosaur models, along with a permanent exhibition of the history of the Bank of Taiwan and architectural restoration.
