Former Site of Taiwan Shin Shin Daily News Introduction

Originally the Taiwan Daily News newspaper, it was formed by the merger of the Taiwan Shimbun and the Taiwan Nichinichi Shimbun, becoming the largest and longest-running newspaper at the time. On October 26, 1945, Li Wanju represented the Government-General of Taiwan to take over the Taiwan Shimbun and renamed it the Taiwan Daily News, which was the only official newspaper at that time. During the February 28 Incident in 1947, the general manager of the newspaper, Ruan Chaori, and the editor-in-chief of the Japanese version, Wu Jinlian, were forcibly taken away by agents dispatched by the Taiwan Provincial Government, and their fates remain unknown to this day.
