Old Site of Taiwan New Life News Introduction
Originally the Taiwan Nichinichi Shimbun newspaper office, it was formed by the merger of the Taiwan Shinbun and Taiwan Nichi Nichi Shimbun, becoming the largest and longest-running newspaper at that time. On October 26, 1945, Li Wan-ju, representing the Government-General of Taiwan, took over the Taiwan Shinbun and renamed it the Taiwan New Life Daily, which became the only official newspaper at that time. During the 228 Incident in 1947, the company’s general manager, Ruan Chao-ri, and the editor-in-chief of the Japanese version, Wu Jin-lian, were forcibly taken away by agents sent by the Taiwan Provincial Government, and their current status remains unknown.
