Futai Street Western-Style House (Former Site of People's Daily) Introduction
Originally the old site of the Okura Group Taiwan branch civil engineering company, it was taken over in the late 1930s by Yoshio Satohara, a liquor merchant importing "Fukunyan" sake. On January 1, 1946, Song Fei-ru and Wang Tian-deng operated the "People’s Guide" here, making sharp critiques and criticisms of the current situation. After the incident broke out, Song Fei-ru and Wang Tian-deng were arrested, disappearing thereafter, and were sealed off by the police headquarters for the crime of "being a major force in the absurd defamation of the government through reactionary and inflammatory rhetoric."
