Futai Street Historical Building (Former site of People's Daily) Introduction

Originally the site of the Takashō Company’s civil engineering office in Taiwan, it was taken over in the late 1930s by the liquor merchant Yoshio Satohara, who imported "Fuku-nyo" sake. On January 1, 1946, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng operated the "People's Guide" here, providing sharp critiques and comments on the political situation. Following the outbreak of events, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng were arrested, and their whereabouts became unknown. They were subsequently charged by the police for being "the main forces of inciting riots through absurd slander against the government with reactionary thoughts and speech."
