Futai Street Western House (Former Site of People's Daily) Introduction
Originally the site of the Takehara Group's Taiwan branch civil engineering company, it was taken over by the liquor merchant Yoshio Sato, who imported "Fukunyan," in the late 1930s. On January 1, 1946, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng operated the People's Daily here, offering sharp comments and critiques of the political situation. Following the outbreak of events, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng were arrested and subsequently went missing, with the police declaring them to be the "main force in inciting riots with their absurd and reactionary remarks that undermine the government."
