Futai Street Western-style Building (Former site of the People's Daily) Introduction

Originally the site of the Takashou Group's Taiwan branch for civil engineering, it was taken over by the liquor merchant Kichiyoshi Sato, who imported "Fukunayu," in the late 1930s. On January 1, 1946, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng operated the "People's Guide" newspaper here, making sharp critiques and comments on the current situation. After the incident broke out, Song Feiru and Wang Tiandeng were arrested, and their whereabouts became unknown. The police subsequently sealed off the location, accusing them of being a "major force in inciting riots and making absurd statements against the government."
