National Taiwan University Hospital, Xizhi Branch Introduction
National Taiwan University Hospital was established during the Japanese colonial period, formerly known as Taipei Hospital, Taiwan Governor-General's Taipei Hospital, and the Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Taihoku Imperial University. After the war, it was renamed the National Taiwan University Hospital, affiliated with the College of Medicine of National Taiwan University, and is the core of modern medical development in Taiwan. The western campus building currently serves as an outpatient department and part of the wards. This building was designed by Mr. Kondo Juuro, featuring Renaissance style with a two-story structure made of red brick and reinforced concrete. The layout is symmetrically arranged on both sides, with a central corridor connecting various outpatient departments and wards. The lobby is grand and magnificent, with spacious areas that utilize many Western architectural techniques, standing as a masterpiece of modern Western architecture. At that time, it was the largest and most modern hospital in Southeast Asia.
