National Taiwan University Hospital, West Branch Introduction

National Taiwan University Hospital was established during the Japanese colonial period, formerly known as Taipei Hospital, the Taipei Medical University Hospital of the Governor-General of Taiwan, and the Hospital affiliated with the College of Medicine, Taihoku Imperial University. After the war, it was renamed National Taiwan University Hospital. It is the core of modern medical development in Taiwan. The building in the western campus is currently used for outpatient services and some wards. This building was designed by Mr. Juro Kondo and features a Renaissance style with red brick reinforced concrete, consisting of two stories. The layout is symmetrically designed with a central corridor connecting various outpatient departments and wards. The lobby is grand and luxurious, with spacious areas that utilize many Western architectural techniques, making it a masterpiece of modern Western-style architecture, and at the time, it was the largest and most modern hospital in Southeast Asia.
