South Gate Town 323 Introduction
Located by the lotus pond in Taipei Botanical Garden, this structure was built in the early Showa period (1930s) during the Japanese colonial era. Originally a teahouse, it was located at "No. 323, Section 6, Nanmen Street, Taipei City, Taipei Prefecture," and later named "Nanmen Street 323." Due to years of neglect, it gradually fell into disrepair. In recent years, with the assistance of renowned architect Kuo Chung-tuan and Professor Kenji Horikomi, it has been restored to its original Japanese architectural appearance. The Japanese dry landscape garden was designed by Mr. Motoharu Oguchi from Nagano Prefecture.
