Taiwan Power Company's President's Dormitory Introduction

During the Japanese colonial period, the Taiwan Electric Company was an important energy institution at a time when industry was just beginning to develop. Its chief executive residence was built near the city walls and is currently one of the well-preserved official residences. After the restoration of Taiwan, it was converted into a central guesthouse and served as the official residence of the Governor of Taiwan. This residence, surrounded by high walls, features a Western architectural style with a tiled roof and white walls, showcasing the aesthetics of Southern European villas reminiscent of Italy or Spain. Many high-ranking official residences during the Japanese colonial period adopted various styles of European housing. This elegant house, which has a courtyard, features an arched entrance hall, Greek column decorations inside, and wooden stairs. The decoration is simple and elegant. Originally, there were Japanese-style rooms behind the house, which were later demolished. This architectural approach of having a Western-style front and a Japanese-style annex in the back also reflects the lifestyle of Japanese officials in Taiwan at that time.
