Taiwan Power Company President's Residence Introduction
During the Japanese colonial period, the Taiwan Power Company was an important energy agency for the early development of industry. Its official residence was built near the city walls and is currently a well-preserved official residence. After the restoration, it was repurposed as the Central Guest House and the official residence of the Governor of Taiwan. Surrounded by high walls, this residence features a Western architectural style with a tiled roof, white walls, and arched windows that reflect the charm of Southern European Italian or Spanish villas. Many high-ranking official residences during the Japanese era favored different styles of European houses. This elegant-looking Western-style villa, which has a courtyard environment, features an arched entrance hall, decorated with Greek columns, while the staircase is made of wood with simple and elegant décor. Originally, there were Japanese-style rooms behind the house, which were later demolished. This combination of a Western front and a Japanese-style residence at the back also reflects the lifestyle of Japanese officials in Taiwan at that time.
