Chili Art Introduction
What is the concept of "ten years" in terms of time? If calculated in days, it is 3,650 days; if in hours, it becomes 87,600 hours; and if in minutes, that amounts to 5,256,000 minutes. This is such a massive numerical concept. Chi Li Art has crossed this long span of ten years, reflecting on the past with a sincere and multifaceted approach to expand its artistic vision. This decade also represents the persistent ideal of a gallery and, of course, the fruits of its commitment. Chi Li Art is located in a quiet alley on Da'an Road in Taipei, where the spatial flow of the gallery exhibits a contemporary and diverse artistic atmosphere. It has curated hundreds of classic art exhibitions, covering categories from two-dimensional ink painting and drawing to three-dimensional sculpture. Chi Li Art extends themes through curatorial concepts, planning exhibitions focused on various forms and categories of art. Importantly, in addition to hosting solo and group exhibitions of renowned artists, it has also curated group exhibitions for new ink artists, reflecting on the current trends in Eastern ink around the world, in an attempt to express and reflect the cultural context of contemporary ink in Taiwan. These new generations of young artists present forms of expression that do not adhere to traditional brushwork and composition, showcasing a new perspective on ink that differs from the past. For example, in 2014, Chi Li Art in Taipei held "Taiwan Water, Korean Ink: Two Aspects of Contemporary Ink," and in 2015, assisted the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, in presenting "Macro and Micro: The Phenomenon of Korean and Taiwanese Ink Painting." In the field of abstract art, in 2015, it curated "Alternative Abstraction, the Intersection of Cold and Hot - Abstract Art Exhibition of Taiwan and Korea," inviting senior researcher Moon Jung-hee from the Korean Art Research Institute to curate and invite significant contemporary ink and abstract artists from both Taiwan and Korea to hold a joint exhibition. The motivation behind this curation was to explore the different appearances of contemporary ink and abstract art in Taiwan and Korea under varying national identities and inherent creative drives, hoping to deepen cultural and artistic exchanges between artists and scholars from both countries, providing interaction among galleries, artists, and collectors, stimulating the art market and collection, and creating a more vibrant art ecosystem. The ten years of operational philosophy have allowed Chi Li Art to grow robustly and to advance toward scholarship, contemporaneity, and internationality. General Manager Chen Huijun stated, "It takes ten years to forge a sword." Now, facing the downturn of the overall environment, even in the face of setbacks or lows, our passionate ideals will not be extinguished, and we are moving further toward developing an international framework, as the second decade is about to begin...
