Red Grain Art Introduction
What does "ten years" mean in terms of time? If calculated in days, it's 3,650 days; in hours, that's 87,600 hours; and if calculated in minutes, it amounts to 5,256,000 minutes. This is quite a massive numerical concept. Chih Li Art has crossed this long span of ten years, reflecting on the past with a sincere and multifaceted approach to expand a broad artistic vision. This decade also symbolizes a gallery's persistent ideal presentation and, undoubtedly, the fruits of its perseverance. Chih Li Art is located in a quiet alley on Da’an Road in Taipei, with a spatial flow that showcases a contemporary and diverse artistic atmosphere. Over the years, it has planned hundreds of classic art exhibitions, covering categories from flat ink paintings to three-dimensional sculptures. Chih Li Art extends themes through its curatorial concept, planning exhibitions for different forms and types of art. Importantly, besides hosting solo and group exhibitions of well-known artists, it has also curated exhibitions for emerging ink artists in response to the current global trends in Eastern ink painting, aiming to express and reflect the cultural context of contemporary ink art in Taiwan. These new-generation young artists present forms of expression that break away from traditional techniques and compositions, showcasing a new perspective on the ink painting context. For example, in 2014, Chih Li Art held "Taiwan Water & Korean Ink: The Two Faces of Contemporary Ink" in Taipei, and in 2015, assisted the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, in hosting "Macro and Micro: The Phenomenon of Korean and Taiwanese Ink Painting." In the realm of abstract art, 2015 saw the planning of "Alternative Abstraction: The Convergence of Cold and Hot - Abstract Art Exhibition of Taiwan and Korea," by inviting Chief Researcher Won Jung-hee from the Korean Art Research Institute to curate a joint exhibition of important contemporary ink and abstract artists from both countries. The motivation behind the curatorial effort is to explore the differing aspects of contemporary ink and abstract art in Taiwan and Korea, influenced by their unique national identities and creative driving forces, and to deepen cultural and artistic exchanges between artists and scholars from both nations. This interaction stimulates the art market and collection, fostering a more vibrant art ecology. The decade-long operational philosophy has enabled Chih Li Art to grow robustly, advancing towards academic, contemporary, and international directions. General Manager Chen Hui-jun states: "Ten years to hone a sword." Now, facing the economic downturn, even in the face of setbacks or lulls, our passionate ideals will not be extinguished, and we will further develop towards an international vision. The second decade is just beginning… (Source: Non-Pool Art)
