Chi-Li Art Introduction

"What does 'ten years' mean in terms of time? If calculated in days, it amounts to 3,650 days; in hours, that's 87,600 hours; and in minutes, it totals 5,256,000 minutes. This is a vast numerical concept. Chi-Li Art has traversed the long span of these ten years, reflecting on the past with a sincere and multifaceted approach to expand its artistic vision. This decade also represents the persistent ideals of a gallery and, of course, the fruits of that persistence. Chi-Li Art is located in a quiet alley on Da'an Road in Taipei, where the spatial flow of the gallery showcases a contemporary and diverse artistic atmosphere. It has curated hundreds of classic art exhibitions, covering categories from flat ink paintings to three-dimensional sculptures. Chi-Li Art extends the theme of its exhibitions through curatorial concepts, showcasing different forms and types of art. Significantly, in addition to hosting individual exhibitions and group shows of well-known artists, it has also organized new ink artist group exhibitions reflecting the current trends of Eastern ink in the world, aiming to express and reflect the cultural context of contemporary ink art in Taiwan. These new generation young artists present forms of expression that do not adhere to traditional techniques and compositions, showcasing a new perspective on ink art. For instance, in 2014, Chi-Li Art in Taipei held "Taiwanese Water, Korean Ink: Two Aspects of Contemporary Ink," and in 2015, assisted the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul by organizing "Macro and Micro: The Phenomenon of Korean and Taiwanese Ink Painting." In the realm of abstract art, in 2015, it curated "Alternative Abstraction: The Convergence of Cold and Warm - Abstract Art from Taiwan and Korea," inviting Won Jung-hee, chief researcher of the Korean Art Research Institute, to curate and inviting significant contemporary ink and abstract artists from Taiwan and Korea for a joint exhibition. The motivation behind the curation was to explore the different appearances of contemporary ink and abstract art between Taiwan and Korea, driven by varying ethnicities and internal creative impulses. It also aimed to deepen cultural and artistic exchanges between Taiwanese and Korean artists and scholars, providing a process for interaction among galleries, artists, and collectors, stimulating the art market and collection, and creating a more vibrant artistic ecology. The ten years of operational philosophy have allowed Chi-Li Art to grow robustly, moving towards an academic, contemporary, and international direction. General Manager Chen Hui-chun remarked, 'It takes ten years to sharpen a sword.' Now, facing economic downturns and challenges, our passionate ideals will not be extinguished, and we will further develop towards a more international framework. The second decade is just about to begin..." (Source: Non-Pool Arts)
