Taipei City Bureau of Cultural Affairs - Urban Stage Introduction
Established in 1964, the Taipei City Social Education Center is a well-known cultural and artistic space with the primary goal of promoting art and cultural activities. Its open areas consist of a lobby on the first floor and three exhibition halls primarily dedicated to static exhibitions, while it also frequently hosts music, dance, and theater performances at the Urban Stage and Art Plaza. After renovations completed in 2003, the performance section was renamed "Urban Stage" and relaunched as a more professional and modern integrated theater, making it a space for urban activities that aligns with contemporary needs. In addition to the main facility on Bade Road, new centers such as the Yanping Activity Center in Datong District, the Wenshan Branch in Wenshan District, and the Parent-Child Plaza in the City Hall have been established, alleviating the limitations on visitor numbers at the main center and allowing more people to conveniently participate in social education activities. In 2014, in accordance with the amended organization regulations of the Cultural Bureau, it was renamed the "Taipei City Cultural Promotion Office," officially opening on November 6, 2015.
