Taipei City Cultural Affairs Department - Urban Stage Introduction
Established in 1964, the Taipei City Municipal Social Education Hall is a familiar cultural and artistic space, primarily aimed at promoting art and cultural activities. Its open areas focus on static exhibitions in the first-floor lobby and three exhibition halls, while also regularly hosting various music, dance, and theatrical events on the City Stage and Arts Plaza. After renovations were completed in 2003, the performance section was renamed "City Stage," embarking on a new journey as a more professional and modern comprehensive theater, aligning better with contemporary urban activity spaces. In addition to the main Social Education Hall on Bade Road, new facilities have been established, including the Yanping Activity Center in Datong District, the Wenshan Branch in Wenshan District, and the Parent-Child Plaza at the City Hall, which not only alleviates the constraints on the number of users at the main hall but also allows more people to conveniently participate in social education activities. In 2014, in line with amendments to the Cultural Bureau's organizational regulations, it was officially renamed the "Taipei City Arts Promotion Office," with its inauguration ceremony held on November 6, 2015.
