Taiwan Shin Kong Cultural and Arts Foundation Introduction
A stable and vibrant cultural society brimming with creativity is undoubtedly the best condition for enterprises to maintain consistency and progress. In light of this, Mr. Wu Dongliang, the leader of Taishin Group, established the "Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture" in May 2001, with the purpose of "enhancing the quality of cultural life and fostering a sound environment for artistic development." The foundation is dedicated to realizing the spirit of "planting, irrigating, and sharing," committing to the social responsibility and cultural mission of private enterprises. The foundation sees itself as a supporter and sponsor of professional arts and cultural activities, looking ahead to the diverse and rapidly evolving social trends of the 21st century, where globalization and localization progress in parallel. The primary goal is to promote contemporary art culture in Taiwan, focusing on the observation, criticism, and sponsorship of local art. In addition to helping Taiwanese contemporary art become a beacon of global creative culture, it also hopes to fill the lives of the people with more creative vitality and imaginative sensibility through the promotion of art. The "Taishin Art Award," launched in 2002, serves as the core business of the foundation, encompassing visual, performing, and interdisciplinary arts activities. Its proactive nomination and interdisciplinary selection mechanisms are pioneering in the country. To balance the breadth, depth, and international visibility of this award, the nomination process includes the establishment of designated observers, interactive discussions of viewpoints, cross-disciplinary dialogues, and the establishment of ARTalks to create public discussion channels. Subsequently, influential international cultural figures are invited to participate in the final selection. In the process of crafting this national art crown, the foundation not only continually introduces outstanding artistic creations with innovative perspectives to the public but also aims to respond to the notion that art itself should not be defined solely by awards or ultimate outcomes. The Taishin Art Award is an important reflection of Taiwan's multiculturalism, allowing exceptional works to resonate and vibrate with society once more. The foundation hopes to serve effectively as a bridge for communication and transcendence between artists and the public, as well as a messenger for enterprises giving back to society.
