"Juju Pavilion" is located in Wuri District and was designated as a historical monument by Taichung City in 2012. The restoration was completed in July 2020, and it officially opened to the public in December 2021. "Juju Pavilion" is one of the few privately owned historical monuments that is open for public visits. Before its restoration, it was already popular among wedding photography, influencers, and photographers due to its unique blend of Baroque and Western architectural styles, making it a well-known photo spot. After its restoration, "Juju Pavilion" has regained its former glory and continues to be a favorite location for wedding photoshoots and photographers. It has also planned outdoor wedding venues, allowing the historical site to offer not only travel photo opportunities but also become a cherished memory for a lifetime. "Juju Pavilion" was built during the Japanese colonial period between 1930 and 1940 and was the private residence of Mr. Chen Shaozong, the wealthiest businessman in the area at the time. The character "奎" (Kuei) represents the Wenchang Star, and the name "Juju Pavilion" embodies the hope that future generations will achieve success and fame through scholarly pursuits, ensuring the prosperity of the family’s scholarly legacy. There was a saying at that time: "If you have no money, go to Wenshang Hall; if you have no rice, find Lianfang," referring to Chen Shaozong being the largest shareholder of Lianfang Rice Mill. He owned vast tracts of land and most of the shops near the current Taichung City Hall, making him a prominent figure in wealth. "Juju Pavilion" thus became a symbol of affluence.

Ju Kui Residence Introduction

"Ju Kuei Residence" is located in Wuri District and was designated as a "Municipal Historic Site of Taichung City" in 2012. It was completed with restoration in July 2020 and officially opened to the public in December 2021. "Ju Kuei Residence" is one of the few privately-owned historical sites open for public visits. Before its restoration, the residence was favored by couples for wedding photos, influencers, and photography enthusiasts due to its unique blend of Baroque and Eastern architectural styles, making it a well-known photo spot. After the restoration, "Ju Kuei Residence" has regained its splendor and remains a favorite for wedding photography, with plans for an outdoor wedding venue, transforming the historical site into not just a place for travel photography, but also a beautiful lifelong memory. Built during the Japanese rule between 1930 and 1940, it was the private residence of local wealthy businessman Mr. Chen Shao-Tsung. The character "Kuei" represents the Wenchang Star, and the name "Ju Kuei Residence" symbolizes the hope that his descendants would succeed in the scholarly path, achieving fame and prosperity, and that the household would flourish in culture. There was a saying at the time: "Without money, look for Wen Tang; without rice, look for Lian Fang." Mr. Chen was the largest shareholder of Lian Fang Rice Store, possessing vast farmlands and many properties nearby the current Taichung City Hall, making him a significant local tycoon. "Ju Kuei Residence" also served as a gathering place for local elites and merchants. Its unique blend of Western and Eastern architectural styles showcases the wealth of the original owner. However, times have changed, and the house ownership had passed at some point. After many years of neglect, through various efforts, "Ju Kuei Residence" was transformed into a privately-owned municipal historic site. Following its restoration, it opened to the public in December 2020. What sparks when Chinese and Western styles meet? The beauty of "Ju Kuei Residence" lies in its main building, which adopts a two-story Baroque Western architectural style, while the flanking buildings maintain a traditional three-part courtyard layout, complete with traditional feng shui features such as the wishing pond and the ceremonial archway. The construction utilized high-end techniques of the time, including "washed stones" and "polished stones," with every architectural detail meticulously crafted. Whether for Western or Chinese wedding gowns, "Ju Kuei Residence" offers the most beautiful photographic angles, making it one of the top recommended real-life settings for wedding photography. The management provides dedicated dressing rooms and makeup areas for couples, ensuring a wholesome and joyous experience. The garden area also offers a qipao (Chinese dress) rental experience, encouraging visitors to wear a qipao, travel back in time, learn about the history of the heritage site, explore contemporary culture, and capture stunning photo moments, allowing visitors to appreciate every beauty of the historical site. "Ju Kuei Residence" boasts a unique enclosed environment, making it an ideal venue for private parties and outdoor wedding banquets. Guests can enjoy gourmet meals within the heritage site while retaining privacy—booking the venue for exclusive events is definitely a great choice.
