Wugu Summer Greenery Introduction
Wugu Summer Green Space boasts a vast 60 hectares of lush grassland. Behind its romantic and refreshing reputation is the New Taipei City Government's "Wugu Garbage Mountain Environmental Renovation Project," which transformed the once chaotic and illegal construction-filled garbage mountain that people avoided into a beautiful hidden gem. It has become a popular family-friendly destination in Wugu. The park also features the New Taipei City Resource Recycling Education Center, responsible for handling recyclable materials while promoting environmental education. Transforming the Garbage Mountain for Summer Green Space, the Wugu Garbage Mountain had long been a dark spot in the area. Through the collaborative efforts of various departments in the New Taipei City Government, the project has guided industrial transformation, removed illegal constructions, and incorporated sustainable practices and urban aesthetics, turning the chaotic garbage mountain into a highly popular eco-park. It combines recreational trails and ecological ponds among other facilities, earning numerous awards, including the "National Sustainable Development Award," "Outstanding Local Environmental Crime Prevention Organization Award," and the "Green City Award" from the Taiwan Healthy City and Age-Friendly City Awards, among others. With lively macaron-colored landscaping, Wugu Summer Green Space is designed around the concept of "Hide and Seek." It features installation art primarily made from concrete pipes, allowing both adults and children to weave through the pipes, discovering creatively painted artworks inside. Visitors can ascend the colorful staircase to the park's highest point, where they can enjoy panoramic views of Guanyin Mountain and the Greater Taipei cityscape, overlooking the expansive green grassland below.
