Wugu Green Park Introduction
Wugu Summer Green Space covers an extensive 60 hectares of grassy fields. Behind this romantically refreshing name lies the New Taipei City Government's "Wugu Garbage Mountain Environmental Improvement Project," which transformed the previously chaotic area filled with illegal buildings, long avoided by residents, into a beautiful hidden gem. It has become a new family-friendly attraction in Wugu. The park also features the New Taipei City Resource Recycling Education Center, which not only handles recycling materials but also promotes environmental education. For years, Wugu Garbage Mountain was a dark spot in the Wugu area. Through the collaborative efforts of various departments within the New Taipei City Government to facilitate industrial transformation, demolish illegal structures, and introduce sustainability and urban aesthetics, this chaotic garbage mountain has been transformed into a highly popular eco-park. It combines recreational trails and ecological ponds, earning numerous awards, including the "National Sustainable Development Award," "Outstanding Organization Award in Local Environmental Crime Prevention," and "Green City Award of Taiwan Healthy Cities and Age-Friendly Cities Award." With a vibrant design in macaron colors, Wugu Summer Green Space is themed around "Hide and Seek," creating installation art primarily made from concrete pipes that allow both adults and children to navigate and play within the tubes, discovering creatively painted artworks inside. Visitors can ascend colorful stairs to reach the park's peak, where they can enjoy panoramic views of Guanyin Mountain and the Greater Taipei urban landscape, overlooking the lush green expanse of the grassy fields below.
