Hanbao Wetlands Introduction
Located in the central coastal wetland of Changhua County, this area has very little human disturbance, providing an excellent winter habitat for migratory birds. Up to 160 species of migratory birds come to this wetland to forage and spend the winter. Refreshingly warm under the sunlight, mudskippers emerge and retreat in the soft sand, while the glimmering black mud and sand invite visitors to remove their shoes and socks and wade barefoot into the water. The cool sensation from the water travels up from the toes. One can often spot a variety of small animals like shellfish, crabs, clams, oysters, and small fish, playing hide and seek, making the experience of the wetland fascinating.
