Taiwan Craft Home - Huang Sharo Wood Carving Studio Introduction
Craftsman: Huang Sha-Rong Huang Sha-Rong was born in a rural area of Fuxing Township. He was registered as a traditional woodcarving preservator of Changhua County in 2013. After graduating from elementary school, he apprenticed with a master to learn shrine carving and also studied the "screen" craft at a Japanese company. He skillfully applied the techniques of "screen" carving to his works. Over a 51-year career in woodcarving, he has skillfully utilized his hands, making woodcarving an essential part of local traditional culture. Huang's works mainly feature orchids, capturing the delicate grace of these flowers using the unique and resilient grain of Taiwan's native sandalwood. His carving skills are evident, having won awards such as the Huangxi Award at the Huangxi Fine Arts Exhibition and the first prize in the craft category of the 16th National Fine Arts Exhibition, as well as various other prominent awards. The Huang Sha-Rong Woodcarving Workshop is located in Fuxing Township, Changhua County, near the Fubao Dairy Cow Painting Village, Turtle Park, and Drifting Wood Light Marker.
