Craftsman: Huang Sha-Jung Teacher Huang Sha-Jung was born in a rural area of Fuxing Township. In 2013, he was registered as a traditional wood carving preserver of Changhua County. After graduating from elementary school, he learned the art of shrine carving from his master and studied "transom" craftsmanship at a Japanese company, skillfully applying the transom carving techniques in his works. With a 51-year-long career in wood carving, he has utilized his hands to make wood carving art a pinnacle of local traditional culture. Teacher Huang's works are centered around orchids, using the unique resilience of Taiwan's native Cinnamomum kanehirae to highlight the delicate beauty of orchids. His skillful grasp of the floral's delicate characteristics is evident in his carvings. He has received numerous awards, including the Huangxi Award at the Huangxi Fine Arts Exhibition, the first prize in the Crafts category at the 16th National Fine Arts Exhibition, and recognition as a master craftsman at the 2nd Dadu Crafts Expo. The Huang Sha-Jung Woodcarving Workshop is located in Fuxing Township, Changhua County, near the Fubao Dairy Cow Painted Village, Turtle Park, and Driftwood Platform.
