Taiwan Craft Workshop - Huang Sha-Rong Woodcarving Studio Introduction
Craftsman: Huang Sha-Rong Teacher Huang Sha-Rong was born in a rural area of Fuxing Township. In 2013, he was registered as a traditional wood carving preservationist in Changhua County. After graduating from elementary school, he apprenticed with a master to learn how to carve altar pieces. He also studied the "transom" craft at a Japanese company and cleverly incorporated the transom carving techniques into his works. With a 51-year career in wood carving, he skillfully uses his hands to make wood carving art a highlight of the local traditional culture. Teacher Huang's works primarily feature orchids, capturing the delicate elegance of orchids using Taiwan's unique resilience found in the camphor tree, perfectly balancing the exquisite beauty of flowers. His carving skills are impressive, and he has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Huangxi Award at the Huangxi Fine Arts Exhibition, the First Prize in Crafts at the 16th National Fine Arts Exhibition, and several other accolades, including the Second Dadu Craftsman Award. The Huang Sha-Rong Wood Carving Workshop is located in the Fubao Cow Painting Village, Turtle Park, and Driftwood Seat Light Marker in Fuxing Township, Changhua County.
