Craftsman: Huang Sha-Rong Teacher Huang Sha-Rong was born in a rural area of Fuxing Township. In 2013, he was registered as a traditional craft preservationist for traditional wood carving in Changhua County. After graduating from elementary school, he apprenticed under a master to learn the art of shrine carving. He studied "transom" craftsmanship at a company in Japan and skillfully applied transom carving techniques in his works. With a 51-year career in wood carving, he utilizes his dexterous hands to make wood carving art a brilliant aspect of local traditional culture. Huang's works mainly feature orchids, highlighting the unique and resilient vein patterns of the local cow tree in Taiwan, which beautifully captures the delicate grace of orchids. His carving skills are evident, and he has received several prestigious awards, including the Huangxi Award at the Huangxi Fine Arts Exhibition, the first prize in the craft category at the 16th National Fine Arts Exhibition, and the Distinguished Craftsman Award at the 2nd Dadu Craftsman Festival, among others. The Huang Sha-Rong Wood Carving Workshop is located in the Fubao Cow Painting Village, Turtle Park, and Driftwood Light Spot in Fuxing Township, Changhua County.
