Taiwan Craft Destination - Huang Sha-Rong Woodcarving Studio Introduction
Craftsman: Huang Sha-Rong Huang Sha-Rong, born in a rural area of Fuxing Township, was registered as a traditional wood carving conservationist in Changhua County in 2013. After graduating from elementary school, he apprenticed under a master to learn shrine carving. He also studied the "lattice" craft in a Japanese company and skillfully applied this carving technique to his works. With a 51-year career in wood carving, he has adeptly utilized his hands to elevate wood carving art as a gem of local traditional culture. His works primarily focus on orchids, using the unique and resilient texture of Taiwan's native Cinnamomum camphora to highlight the delicate beauty of the orchids. The intricate craftsmanship exhibited in his sculptures is evident. He has received numerous awards, including the Huangxi Award at the Huangxi Fine Arts Exhibition, first prize in the craft category at the 16th National Fine Arts Exhibition, and recognition as a master craftsman in the second Dadu Crafts Exhibition. The Huang Sha-Rong Wood Sculpture Studio is located in Fubaoliu Cow Painting Village, Fuxing Township, Changhua County, near Turtle Park and Driftwood Light Marker.
