Niutoushan, Loumen Rock Introduction
Niu Tou Mountain, located on the northeastern cape of Green Island, is a landmark of the island, quietly lying at the northeast cape and watching over Green Island and every traveler who arrives. Starting from Nanliao Fishing Port and heading north, you can pass by attractions such as the Green Island Visitor Center, Chaikou, and Oasis Resort before reaching Niu Tou Mountain. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, the summit features a vast green meadow, making it an ideal spot for enjoying the ocean, observing tides, and watching the sunset. The sunset at Niu Tou Mountain is one of the most beautiful sights on Green Island. Unlike the sunset views from Chaoyang Hot Springs or Green Island Lighthouse at sea level, from high up on Niu Tou Mountain, you can enjoy the sunset slowly descending toward the Central Mountain Range, and then disappearing from view, experiencing a different kind of melancholic beauty. From Niu Tou Mountain, you can also see Luomen Rock, located about 300 meters off the northeastern coast of Green Island. This feature consists of a series of small coral reef outcrops, and the tallest one has been eroded by waves, forming a circular hole in the center. Viewed from afar, it resembles an arch, which is why it is called "Luomen Rock." It is the most representative sea-eroded cave of Green Island. Powerboats can pass through it, allowing visitors to admire the breathtaking sea-eroded cave above or gaze down at the ever-changing seabed topography and the beautiful sight of waves crashing against the rock formations in summer.
