Penghu Aquarium Introduction
The two-story building of the Penghu Aquarium, constructed with gray-white walls and greenish-blue roofs, is located in Qitou Village, Baisha Township, Penghu. It was expanded from the original Fishery Research Institute. The aquarium features various exhibition zones, including coastal ecology, a rocky pool, and a deep-sea ecology area, with the most notable being a 14-meter-long arched underwater tunnel where visitors can stroll through and admire various marine life. Directly opposite the aquarium's entrance is a straight wave breakwater extending into the Taiwan Strait, initially constructed as a breeding ground by a Japanese pearl cultivation company. The unique wavy shape of the breakwater attracts many tourists for photographs. However, if you want to take pictures in the azure waters, make sure to check the tidal times and choose the right time during high tide to capture the perfect shot, or else you will only find a wet muddy shore beneath your feet! On the east side of the aquarium, there is a Qitou Waterside Park designed to utilize the tidal differences, which includes a tidal zone walking area, a circular wading pool, and children's play facilities, allowing both adults and children to observe intertidal organisms and understand the tidal effects, making it an educational yet entertaining recreational area.
