Penghu Aquarium Introduction
The two-story building of the Penghu Aquarium, constructed with gray-white walls and green tiles, is located in Qitou Village, Baisha Township, Penghu. It was expanded from the original Fisheries Experiment Station. Inside the aquarium, there are display areas for coastal ecology, reef pools, and ocean ecology, with the most notable feature being a 14-meter-long arched underwater tunnel, where visitors can walk through and admire various marine life. Directly opposite the aquarium entrance, there is a straight wave breaker extending into the Taiwan Strait, originally built by a Japanese pearl farming company. The unique wave shape of the breaker attracts many tourists for photo opportunities. However, if you want to take photos in the blue seawater, make sure to check the tidal times and choose the right time around high tide, otherwise, you’ll only find a wet muddy area underfoot! On the east side of the aquarium, there is a tidal park designed using tidal differences, featuring a tidal flat walking area, a circular water play pool, and playground facilities for children, allowing adults and kids to observe intertidal zone creatures and learn about tidal actions, making it an educational and recreational area.
