Northern Coast Visitor Center Introduction
Starting from October 2023, reconstruction will be temporarily suspended, and the original service unit has moved to the Houliao Visitor Center. Houliao Visitor Center's service phone number: 06-9933437. To visit the various islands in the North Sea, you need to go to the North Sea Visitor Center located in Chihkan Village to purchase boat tickets. From Chihkan Harbor, you can take a boat to Jibei Island, Xianjiao Island, Mudou Island, and other islands. Chihkan is the base for marine recreational activities, and nearby islands offer experiences such as snorkeling, appreciating coral reef underwater scenery, and water jet skiing. Chihkan Harbor is also an important port for catching flying fish. Every year from April to September is the flying fish season in Penghu, during which the annual Chihkan Flying Fish Festival is held, and you can participate in flying fish catching experience activities. In Chihkan, there are a few must-visit attractions. The first is the Longde Temple, which worships Nezha, a significant deity, and is a center of faith for the villagers of Baisha and Chihkan, where many legends about Nezha are circulated. The second attraction is an ancient house located at the front of the North Sea Visitor Center, featuring a century-old well in its courtyard that connects to an air-raid shelter nearby, both of which are well preserved. The third attraction is a three-faced Stone God located to the south of the North Sea Visitor Center, which is quite rare. It is said that the doghead rock above was once kicked and angered the local gods. Later, villagers asked the wrongdoer to apologize to the gods and repair the doghead rock, while also establishing the three-faced Stone God below to suppress malevolent energy. Since then, the three-faced Stone God has faced the strong northeast monsoon beneath the doghead rock, protecting the village's safety.
