North Sea Visitor Center Introduction
As of October 2023, reconstruction has been suspended, and the original service unit has moved to the Hou Liao Visitor Center. The phone number for the Hou Liao Visitor Center is 06-9933437. To visit the various islands in the Northern Sea, tickets can be purchased at the Northern Sea Visitor Center located in Chikan Village. From Chikan Harbor, boats head to Jibei Island, Xianjiao Island, Mudu Island, and other islands. Chikan is a hub for marine recreational activities, offering snorkeling, coral reef sightseeing, jet skiing, and other water sports nearby. Chikan Harbor is also an important port for catching wintry squid, with the squid fishing season from April to September each year, featuring an annual Chikan Squid Festival and squid fishing experience activities. There are several must-visit attractions in Chikan. The first is the Longde Temple, which is dedicated to Nezha, and is a significant center of belief for residents of Chikan Village, with a rich tradition of stories about Nezha. The second attraction is an ancient house located in front of the Northern Sea Visitor Center in Kanding, which features a century-old well in its courtyard, connected to an air raid shelter beside it, and is well-preserved. The third attraction is a three-sided Shicandang located to the south of the Northern Sea Visitor Center, which is quite rare. It is said that the dog head rock above was once broken due to a kick, angering the local deity. Later, villagers requested the perpetrator to repent to the deity and repair the dog head rock, while also establishing the three-sided Shicandang below to suppress negative energies. Since then, the three-sided Shicandang has stood under the dog head rock, facing the strong northeast monsoon, blessing the village with safety.
