During the Japanese occupation, a wharf was built by the seaside of Daguaye to facilitate maritime transportation between Magong and Xiyu. While excavating stones and soil, the magnificent columnar basalt, buried for thousands of years, was accidentally discovered. This can be considered the easiest accessible columnar basalt on Penghu's main island.
