During the Japanese occupation period, a wharf was established on the coast of Daguaye to facilitate maritime transportation between Magong and Xiyu. While excavating stones and soil, a magnificent columnar basalt, buried in the ground and slumbering for thousands of years, was unexpectedly discovered. This can be regarded as the most accessible columnar basalt on Penghu Island.
