Tengshan Trail Introduction
Yuanlin Tengshan Trail is a popular hiking trail on Bagua Mountain, located near the Nantou border within the Baiguo Mountain Scenic Area in Yuanlin, Changhua. The path is lush with vegetation and shaded by trees. It is approximately 2 kilometers long, featuring a wide and gentle slope, making it suitable for family outings. Along the trail, there are wooden signs displaying various classical and interesting texts, including unique triple-character words, compound characters that blend idioms, and Taiwanese proverbs that humorously describe many situations. For example, the term "jiu lou dian xin che" metaphorically depicts the passing of responsibility. Taking a thoughtful walk along the trail enhances one's understanding of Taiwanese culture, making it a great learning opportunity for families. In spring and summer, the valley is adorned with white tung blossoms, adding beauty to the greenery. With the gentle breeze blowing, the falling petals create a snow-like scenery, attracting nearly 200,000 visitors each year in April to enjoy the flowers. Many scenic viewpoints are set along the way for rest, including Yuan-Shi Pavilion, which offers close-up views of the blossoms as well as excellent vistas of the cityscape. Occasionally, one can see lychee orchards and pineapple fields along the countryside. The literary signs along the trail add a cultural touch. During spring and summer, it becomes a key tung flower destination in Changhua, often hosting events like the Hakka Tung Flower Festival. This place is not only a venue for hiking and leisure but also a trail rich in artistic atmosphere.
