Tengshan Trail Introduction
Yuanlin Tengshan Trail is a popular hiking trail located on Bagua Mountain, adjacent to the Nantou border in the Bai Guo Shan Scenic Area of Yuanlin, Changhua. The trail is lush with vegetation and shaded by trees. It is approximately 2 kilometers long, featuring a wide and gentle slope that is suitable for family outings. Along the trail, wooden signs display a variety of classical fun phrases, including unique reduplicated characters, combined idioms, and Taiwanese proverbs. These phrases offer humorous descriptions of various situations, such as "restaurant dim sum cart," which metaphorically represents the shifting of responsibility. Reflecting on these meanings while walking the trail provides a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture, making it a great educational and fun experience for families. During spring and summer, the white oil tung blossoms blanket the valley, enhancing the greenery. With the breeze gently blowing the petals down, the scenery resembles falling snow. Each April, nearly 200,000 visitors come to admire the blooms. Several lookout points along the trail provide resting spots, with Yuan Lion Pavilion offering close-up views of the flowers as well as excellent panoramas of the cityscape below. Here, one can occasionally see scenes from local areas, such as lychee orchards and pineapple fields. The textual signs along the path add a literary charm to the trail. Spring and summer are especially vibrant as this spot becomes a key destination for tung flower viewing in Changhua, often hosting events like the Hakka Tung Flower Festival. This trail is not only a place for hiking and leisure but also imbued with an artistic atmosphere.
