Tengshan Trail Introduction

Yuanlin Tengtian Trail is a popular hiking trail located on Bagua Mountain, adjacent to the Nantou border within the Baiguan Mountain Scenic Area in Yuanlin, Changhua. The trail features lush vegetation and is shaded by trees. It spans approximately 2 kilometers with a wide path and gentle slopes, making it suitable for family outings. Along the way, wooden signs display various classical and interesting texts, including unique trigrams, combined characters of idioms, and Taiwanese dialect expressions. These whimsical phrases describe many aspects humorously, such as “dim sum cart” as a metaphor for shifting responsibility in a pushing scenario. Reflecting on these meanings while walking the trail deepens the understanding of Taiwanese cultural nuances, making it an educational and entertaining experience for families. During spring and summer, the valleys are adorned with white Tung flowers, enhancing the green scenery. The gentle breeze causes the petals to fall, creating a snow-like beauty. Every April, nearly 200,000 visitors come to admire the blossoms. The trail has numerous viewing platforms for rest, where Yuan-Shih Pavilion offers a close-up view of the flowers and fantastic vistas of the mountainous cityscape. Here, one can occasionally spot litchi orchards and pineapple fields. The text on the wooden signs adds a literary touch to the trail. Particularly in spring and summer, this area becomes a key location for Tung flower sightseeing in Changhua, often hosting events like the Hakka Tung Flower Festival. This trail is not only a place for hiking and leisure but also rich in artistic atmosphere.
