Tengshan Trail Introduction
Yuanlin Tengtou Trail is a popular hiking trail located on Bagua Mountain, adjacent to the Nantou border within the Bai Guo Shan Scenic Area in Yuanlin, Changhua. The trail is lush with vegetation and shaded by trees. It is approximately 2 kilometers long, with a wide and gentle slope, making it suitable for families to enjoy together. Along the trail, wooden signs feature many classical and interesting phrases, including unique triples, combined characters of idioms, and Taiwanese proverbs. These playful expressions, rich in sound and metaphor, humorously describe various situations, such as "dim sum cart" symbolizing the shifting of responsibility. Reflecting on these meanings while walking the trail deepens one's understanding of Taiwanese culture, making it educational and enjoyable for families. In the spring and summer, the snow-white tung flowers blanket the valley, enhancing the greenery, and the gentle breeze causes petals to fall like snow, creating a picturesque scene. Every April, nearly 200,000 visitors come to enjoy the blossoms. There are many observation platforms along the way for rest, among which the Yuan-Shi Pavilion offers close-up views of the flowers as well as excellent vantage points for the scenic cityscape below. Occasionally, one can see lychee orchards and pineapple fields along the trail; the wooden signs also add a literary touch to the pathway. During spring and summer, this trail becomes an emblematic spot for tung flowers in Changhua, often hosting events such as the Hakka Tung Flower Festival. It is not only a place for hiking and relaxation but also a trail rich in artistic ambiance.
